 Good tips for spriting with a perspective?

Post Good tips for spriting with a perspective?
So far I've been spriting in one dimension and from one, sideview angle.
But now I'm making a jet fighter that requires sprites of it at an angled view.
Like as if the camera is directed from 45' angle instead of sideview.

Now how to sprite object like that, at different perspectives and angles, I have no idea whatsoever.

Care to share any tips how I could draw/sprite things at a different perspective angle?

You shouldn't talk about your games in here.
And with the modding skill you have for CC, it's a wonder you can even make games.

I see, so its like drawing a skeleton of the objects construction.
But how do you get all the shapes drawn? How can you reference or convert a sideview item into an angle view item? I just find it hard to imagine how can you draw the actual shape/skeleton of the object in a different angle.

Well you see numgun there's three axes of rotation, and you really can't tell which one you're referring to when you say "45 degrees off sideview" because that could be in ANY DIRECTION.

I happened to assume it was roll and was evidently incorrect.

Show the bottoms of things, not just the sides of things, you have to imagine the dimensions in your head and imagine what it would look like if it was 3D, then you will be able to sprite with a perspective.

Best tip I can give.

Here, an example sprite;

step 1: make a 2d outline of the body (not shown)
step 2; make wireframe for everything to show (the wing, curve of the plane)
step 3; start filling it in with solid color
step 4; start making those colors brightness vary according to triangle (basic shading)
step 5; remove outlines
step 6; polish shading
i dident do the last bit (polish shading) because it takes a long time, and this is just an example sprite.

I go free style, but I basically do that, I draw the general outline and then I put in colors and shading.

But the plane sprite does look kind of bad. :oops:

when its in one of my games, i normaly hit it with a weak blur, thats why its shaded in solid colors, heres it blured;

Anyhow, look at some advanced wars sprites, they use 45 degree angles.

Lafe's sprite was alright, except that blur kinda ruined it imo. :P

But anyways, I drew a quick sketch of what I'm aiming at:

As you can see, the angled perspective sprites are shown when the jet will turn around.
The problem is I dont know how can I keep the dimensions and all that intact while drawing the jet in a different angle than sideview.

Well, you can always try... At least my linux computer has GIMP, so I could help.

(I put another harddrive in my windows computer and Windows 7(RC1 beta, no it isn't out yet) install cd says it's corrupt. Bah!)


Maybe this sprite from advanced wars will help.

You could also get someone to make your plane in a 3D program and send you images of it rotated and you could sprite off of those.
