If you don't know what is Unmapped Lands 2 or it's faction files this topic is probably useless for you.

Well it's not actually that automatic and probably won't parse some mods or miss some items. This Python script takes any specified .rte folder and dumps all buyable actors and items to the UL2 .lua faction file (it also prints all parsed files and all found objects on the screen). You don't have to manually copy/paste prices, preset names, descriptions and module names. But you still have to assign research costs, powers, weapon and actor types, faction-specific values etc.

Generated file is 100% working UL2 faction file (at least if script didn't encounter any errors while parsing) you just need to edit some values.

You need to install python 3.2 to run this script.

This script never updates existing faction files. Output file is completely overwritten after each run, so all your edits will be lost.

Examples and manual can be found in the script itself. If you encounter any problems parsing some specific mods PM me what mods you tried to parse and I'll try to fix errors in script. I've tried to run it against some existing big and small mods and it looks like everything works acceptable.

I hope there is one excuse less to not support Unmapped Lands 2 in your mod )))

Oh God awesome, I really hated to manually do them!

New World Industries will have a new faction file soon =D!
