Post need help with my death wheel mod
I'm making a type of dropship that pretty much makes it a wheel on the ground. So far I've gotten it to roll in one direction or the other but i can't figure out the coding to make it be able to switch directions. I've tried making the min velocity of the engines negative but that just seems to make them stop moving. Unfortunatly I'm not on the comp that the file is on so i can't post it but i can later if you need to look at it.
Thanks

You sir are a genius. can't beleive noone's thought of this. It's so simple, I do it all the time in Armadillo Run. You are god, sir. You are god.Look at my concept for an idea of how to work.

Thats great but the way you have it would just make it go all one direction. Currently the 2 side thrusters on my dropship each fire at the opposite angle. One is 90 the other is -90. This makes it go one way or the other(EXTREMLY fast i might add) but i don't know how to reverse the direction to make it go the other way. However you may be on to something. If i make 4 engines 2 for left and 2 for right and decouple the controls so that up or w stops the left and fires the right and down or s stops the right and fires the left that might just work. When i get home i'll post the stuff i have here.

Why not make them correspond to the a and d keys instead of w and s? That way you could have a thruster on the bottom so it doesn't crash go boom when you order it.

Yeah thats an idea. Here i thought this was gonna be a simple mod to start out with. Heh maybe when i get done i'll due a clone version of it. Maybe a samus aran themed set with morph ball weapon, missiles, wave shot, and screw attack. Should be fun. How does one go about changing what the keys do?

Make the engines pitch more in response to use of A and D?

Alright getting closer i just made it switch directions but it stopped rolling. I think i have it though.
Edit
Nope just seemed to do loops. As a side note it currently makes an excellent digger atm.

Change it to a material with higher friction, maybe. Either that or I misunderstood you.

Alright current status is I tried setting the 2 motors to push againest eachother so that when you shift em with either the a or d keys they turn and spray either clockwise or counterclockwise. Unfortunatly i can't seem to figure out what the opposite angle of 0 is. It doesn't seem to be either -0 or 180. On either of those 2 settings when the other is 0 they both line up. However when one is 90 and the other is -90 they go in opposite directions.

YAY!!! It works. Turning radius is about 1 map in radius and it has a tendency to go flying into the air but it works.
edit
fixed the Ini file
edit 2
third times the charm

Setting the angles to 0 and -180 and spreading them farther apart. Its just a black wheel with 2 emitters with invisible sprites atm but i hope to get a decent morphball esque sprite either made by myself or someone else.
