(note: i tried ctrl+O but it doesnt change much...)

what can i do?

delete mods or...?

What is your RealToSimCap? It should be around 0.075.

The game should run at time scale 1.0 on any i7 processor, but you have a laptop right? Many laptops actually threshold CPU power when the temperature rises, to extend the life span of the computer. If that is the case external cooling might help (it did for me anyway).

It helps a bit, i play now at 0.4 and if i am lucky at 0.6
is there really no easy way to make it playable?

i mean, this aint normal is it, skyrim etc runs with no probs, but a game like this doesnt work?

hope this can be fixed, its an amazing game :)

Well, Skyrim defers a lot of its processing to your graphics card - Cortex Command is not very graphically intensive, but it does perform many hundreds of thousands of physics calculations every second due to all the physically-simulated dirt flying around, which Skyrim does not! This is why it has a greater strain on your PC than Skyrim - one can only imagine the strain if Skyrim physically simulated grains of mud too!

Does this game take advantage of multiple cores? ie would a single cored i7 2600K beat an older multicored i7? This game runs quite well for me on an I7 720QM (laptop, Asus G73). It naturally chugs a bit when you use something catastrophic like a nuke but that's understandable.

I think the post really needs to be updated to include a discussion on the effect of mods on speed. I went a little mod crazy when I first got this game to try out all of the cool stuff and having all those mods installed turned the game to a slideshow. It took me a little digging around to figure out that the game only runs smooth with like 1-2 mods working at a time but it's thankfully really easy to drag and drop RTEs around.

If I recall correctly, CC doesn't support multiple cores. It also seems to like Intel's CPUs more than AMDs.

Most likely won't be a fix, adding multicore support would require an engine rewrite - not going to happen. You could try turning glows off but it won't look as good. To do that open up Settings.ini in base.rte and change PostProcessing to 0.

Turning post processing off in the ini file breaks the game. At nearly every single resolution setting the game does this:

'Tis a shame, because the performance hit is drastically reduced when it is turned off.

Game crashes for me on mission start if post processing is disabled.

It's also still impossible to disable 1 sim update per frame, even in the version released to Steam just a couple of days ago.

The game runs at 22 fps at any resolution on my Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz machine, which is barely playable :(

Messed with those, but the deltatime setting needed to maintain TimeScaling = 1 is a variable, not a constant. Fortunately it can now be changed in-game, but unfortunately it just gives a choice between playing the game in slow-motion or in a slideshow as soon as more than 1 unit is visible on the screen at the same time.

Ok, I tried changing my screen resolution for a windowed setting, didn't work, I got the usual error message then it set it to this tiny, square screen. Help please? I can't do crap with it doing this.
