Post So, how do I change my starting funds again?
I am on a Mac, and I haven't played for at least a year. After I reinstalled I realized that I had forgotten, and it was on the PC at the time anyway.

So I know that I go on Show Package Contents>Content>Resources>Base.rte>Activities.ini but after changing all the "FundsOfTeam1" to 50000, it hasn't seemed to work for some reason. I have saved the .ini and tried with and without comma's.

Any advice?

Try modifying Missions.rte/Skirmish Activities.ini instead.

Argh, why have we never had this in a sticky?
Also this kind of this would go better in the mod making section.

Anyways, you've got the wrong .ini.

Find the activities in mission.rte and change the starting funds on that.

It's easyer to use a buyable negative-fund item, Numgun's AAL had one but I don't think you can get it now.
Unitec has unlockable cheat fund items that you have to comment out to use so finding one of those will be easyest, otherwise you can search for another thread like this.

(Where's the ninja icon?) Ninja'd, still got a slight suggestion.

Making one of those is pretty easy.
Add<Something> = <Something>
CopyOf = <Anything>
PresetName = Money Cheat
GoldValue = <Any negative number>

Why isn't this stuff stickied yet? This is the most commonly asked newbie question.

I think we need to have an official uber mod.

Because no one has the patience to sit through and make a genuine FAQ.

I have advocated this idea on multiple occasions, but no one has stepped up to offer help. I'd be glad to do something, but its not something I can do alone. I am but an inexperienced user, I need the help of technically experienced content creators to explain various things.

Yeah, but a guide for just this could be made and thrown in the useful topics thread, since this seems to be asked semimonthly.

An exhaustive FAQ would be great, but covering some high priority stuff would be useful in the meantime, and it could be compiled/improved on later.

HOW TO CHANGE SKIRMISH STARTING FUNDS for B23 PC

1) Open Cortex Command folder, this should be where you installed the game on your computer.
2) Open Missions.rte folder
3) Make a copy of Skirmish Activities.ini, naming it something else.
4) Open Skirmish Activities.ini with notepad or a similarly simple word processing program.
5) Look down to the seventh and eighth lines, they should read:
Code:
   FundsOfTeam1 = 5000
   FundsOfTeam2 = 5000
6) Change the 5000s to desired skirmish starting funds. For fair multiplayer, the two should be kept at the same value. Be careful not to change the tabbing of the lines or the variables.
7) Save the file and test it.
8) If it didn't work right, and Cortex Command fails to load, delete the original Skirmish Activities file and name your copy the original name exactly. ( "Skirmish Activities.ini" )

Not the best guide ever, feel free to do whatever with it. Unless it involves snapping turtles.
