Post Spriting Contest
That's right, this contest is all about the sprites. You will have two weeks to come up with a spritesheet of your own creation that would be just perfect for CC. Once you're done, upload it to this thread as a .png and it will be judged by the forum. After time is up, a poll will be made and forumites will vote for who has made the best sprite to fit the theme, and fit the overall atmosphere of Cortex Command.

The current theme is: "-", as suggested by -.

Rules
  • Nothing from the sprite dump, even if it was yours. I want to see original work here.
  • Following on from that, nothing that has been released as a mod.
  • It has to be in palette. It wouldn't be a CC contest otherwise.

NEW AND IMPORTANT: The wonderful Petethegoat has offered to gift any game on Steam worth £15 Sterling (15 pounds Sterling) or less to the winner of this contest, a fabulous prize if you ask me. View titles here, and remember you could always ask for three games so long as they're under Pete's budget. This prize could well be yours! All the more reason to enter the contest!

Current Entrants

Bump, slight change to the rules.

The file format is now .png, not .bmp

Post Re: Spriting Contest - Theme: "Steampunk"
three questions:
1: size limit, does it have to be in accurate scale to CC or just in the style of CC
2. Do we need to make a complete sprite sheet or just one character, item, whatever
3. I would like to make one character a weapon and a corrosponding dropship so is there a limit on amount of stuff(though quality does come first I find it helps to make multiple items to build an overall style)

1. It needs to be in CC scale, but if whatever you're making is supposed to be bigger than vanilla there's no reason not to make it so.
2. The idea is to dump a spritesheet of your work process, so that would normally include the various components, and a mockup of the finished thing.
3. There is absolutely no limit on how much you do.

Ok thanks, I was just curious about scale, one more( Ya I know I'm annoying), does it need to be a complete sprite sheet? I just want to make the flat arm/flat leg poses for my character and a couple extra to make the mock up look cool.

You're welcome to put mockups on, but it does have to be a spritesheet.

Ladies and gents, may I present to you the latest advancement in bipedal steam powered walkers, the <Insert cool steamy name here> The <Name> features it's main cannon, that fires high explosive rounds the size of a Dafred's head. Secondary armament includes two autocannons, a flak gun, and a heavy repeater pistole. (HMG up top). Water is taken from the tank at the back (one of it's weak spots), and turned to steam in it's inbuilt boiler. Data, our lucky pilot, is seen here raising his middle finger to the world all the way down there.

The main walker is based on a detailed sketch I made during PDHPE a year ago. It should have two stubby but immensely strong reverse jointed legs attached to the big hole there. Obviously, the walker is heavily WIP, I haven't worked on it much. I hope to learn walkpaths and put this in the game. It'll be something like Amrobotics' Flying Fortress. Speaking of Amrobotics, his stuff was of great inspiration to me, so thanks to you, sir.

The spritesheet includes individual pieces of the walker, aswell as some weapons, a War Balloon, and a Tank. When finished, the walker will have a null dropship attached to it, and will be able to drop tanks and infantry from its... Rear end. The parachuted Steam Panzer is of the 71st Air Panzer division (Airborne Armour Corps) and is a driven by a single trooper. The war balloon is just random.

If I left anything out, I'll edit it in later.

File comment: Should have some cool sounds ingame, anyone know where to get good steampunk SFX from?
