No reply to the extension, so I'm going to go ahead and extend. Maybe the would-be contestants are too busy at the moment to look at this thread, or something.

I gotta admit I did better than I expected, even with the low number of entries and votes. There's no shame in losing to Major in what was essentially a spriting contest.

Anyway, Major also very kindly offered me the rewards of contest. I already own killing floor, so I declined that price and I'm not really that interested in dictating a new theme. I would rather have a theme that draws a lot of entries. So, suggestions please. What theme would make you (a modder) participate?

Just to get the ball rolling, I think a theme with less restrictions would be a good idea this time. We've had 2 non-fancy themes, so I think it's high time we had a fancy theme.

Unconventional Weapon maybe? A weapon that is not used/does not behave like regular weapons of its group.

An unconventional grenade could be something that, instead of exploding into shrapnel and impulse particles, teleports all objects within a set radius to random locations in the scene, could be used to quickly get rid of powerful enemies or escape a hazardous situation.

An unconventional rifle could be like a periscope with the muzzle offset raised a good distance above the rest of the gun, letting you shoot over terrain.

And so on.

I'd join one of those, you don't necesarilly need Lua and some very cool things could show up. Just grab an everyday CC problem and solve it with a mod.

Alright, lets get this theme started, we'll see how many entries we end up with.

Theme is Unconventional Weapons. The mod needs to be a weapon, that is, something that can kill (or neutralise) enemies and unconventional, that is, unexpected in its use or behaviour. Other than that go nuts! firearm/tool/grenade/bomb/actor/crab, whatever it's all good as long as it can be used as a weapon and is unconventional.

That's my kind of theme! I'm very likely to participate.

And the same prize again, but this time, thank Major and clunatic for it; they both wanted the prize from last contest to be kept for future winners, so I've got an extra.
Although I don't think I would have ran out soon, if ever, otherwise, anyway...

Azukki, if it's not much of an annoyance, why do you have so many copies of Killing Floor?

Post Re: Modding Theme of the X Time Period *Unconventional Weapon
There was a sale that brought it to under two bucks, so I thought I'd buy a couple extra copies for gifts and trading tokens somewhere down the road. And there was like a minute left on the sale, so I was curious how many times I could get through the checkout in that timeframe. I backed out of the idea of reselling or using them for trades since that could lose me my steam account if they caught on. Turns out most anyone that I would want to give gifts to has KF already or wouldn't care to have it.

But more so than me having lots of them, I'm a bit pessimistic about the future interest in these contests and CC modding in general, considering the way things are now and how Data's plans for the future of CC seem to have a damper on them, now that it's considered complete, and there's PP to focus on.

Interesting. At least this theme is pretty good and I already got an idea, probably more people will participate.

I already have Killing Floor, myself, but I wanted to experiment with a little idea anyway that I think, in the context of Cortex Command, is reasonably unconventional. Somewhat.

I'm sure someone can do better, but anyway; the AET Nanocarbine.
