Hey!

Im Ape, and I have a problem. I dont get anything of the tutorials on the forum here. It could be just me, but I am pretty good with computers... I really, really wanna start making mods. If somebody could send me a good link with a good tutorial, that would be awesome!

Thanks, Ape :-D

Well Foa...

Thanks for the reminder but I already said that I dont get anything of the "Beginners Tutorial" over there  .
I hoped that somebody could just send a link with a easier tutorial but i dont think there is... Maybe somebody could explain the basics to me via PM, but the chance is little as we all know (I would really appreciate it btw)... However I will look at the tutorials untill I get it. I just really dont think their that clear, but that couold be just me as I already said.

Again, Thanks, Ape

(PM me! )

Just open up the ini file for a gun, the values are all self-explanatory. Actors are a bit more complicated, but once you wrap your head around it ♥♥♥♥'s easy enough.

Okay, should I just copy a gun from another mod and change everything I want?

And when I want to change anything it says there went something wrong...

I wouldn't even recommend just copying it, the easiest way to get started is to back up one of the vanilla factions, and just edit their guns to get a feel for what your changes do. If you wanted to copy you have to change presetnames, and that's another step. You can do that once you've got a hang of what different values translate into in-game. Copying can cause more errors if you don't know how to do it properly.

I changed the Shotguns in Coalition, automatic fire or something. It was first on zero, set it on one and it crashed...

That wouldn't cause a crash unless you did something wrong. You just took the FullAuto = 0, and changed the 0 to a 1?

Nvm, im sorry it works :) . But can I just change everything? Because im scared that I will delete something, or that the game will crash? Also couldn't we better talk in like a chat? Or isn't that here

Eh, I don't think further discussion is that necessary. Just keep a spare copy of the vanilla coalition.rte or whatever faction you're editing, and your changes won't break the game.

I can understand that it's hard to try to learn instantly by reading guides.

Hell, I've been ♥♥♥♥ around with the code since, like, the age of 12, and I've learned the basics (and more) from pure experience.

Just a little common sense, enthusiasm and spare time and you'll figure out what everything does. I'm willing to answer simple (and maybe less simple) questions (preferably one at a time) and give tips on how to get started if you want, just PM me and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Always nice to see that the modding spirit isn't completely dying.
