Post Rule proposal
Punish people who post before searching. A large part of our thread volume consists of people answering threads asking frequent queries and people posting relevant threads.

I advocate that punishment for posters that are called out on not searching before posting.

A good example of an OP that should be warned is this: viewtopic.php?f=75&t=16634

I think warns are a bit too harsh. Perhaps an extension of the post approval thing that newbs have to go through. Ask a stupid question, suffer under post approval before you can post on your own again. Then again, that might be too much work for the mods.

Actually, I agree with THOR. But that should apply to everyone, not only newbs. A warn should also be sent to the person who releases sub-par mods which lack even one redeeming quality, even though we haven't had a lot of those lately.

Uh, warning for perceived "bad mods" is arbitarary, whereas what I am advocating is based on a discrete rule violation: Clearly not searching adequately before posting a question.

And noobs already go through post approval, why would you want to add more burden to the staff members by forcing them to moderate every single thread that goes into that subforum?

By "sub-par mods" I meant lafe-like sprites with bullet hoses, things which I think we can all agree should stay private unless they're part of a larger pack (i.e. redeeming qualities).

Warns wouldn't be too harsh Duh, for they don't really do anything other than be a way for mods to formally let you know to stop flailing your ♥♥♥♥ around. Also, I agree that not searching be punishable.

Sounds good then.

I honestly vote for a pm to the person asking them to use the search button rather than a warn, but I'm cool with a warn. Wait that's the same thing. Wow.
