Complain when I forget your contest, complain when I acknowledge your contest...
A man can't win in this kind of situation ):

Can you think of a better reason than 'it sounds awesome'?

it would be..... TOTALLY AWESOME DUDE!!!

on a more serious note, it would make it much easier to organise all the contests, easeier for the newbies to find them, and an explaination of what they are

also it would sort the good mods out (modders work harder on contests)

1) There are two contests, that's basically two threads. That hardly needs much organisation.
2) There are two contests, if a newbie can't find two contests about mods by looking in the forums marked "mods" then I don't think adding a subforum marked "contests" will help them either.
3) If a newbie needs an explanation of what a "modding contest" is past the words "modding contest" then they aren't going to be literate enough to enter anyway.

FYI they are in general discussion.
Easily buried amongst other threads.
A subforum would attract more attention to them.

If someone can't be bothered to wade through general discussion, why would they look at subforums?

Well maybe some people don't know that there's a mod contest :).

The community really isn't that big, I bet if you polled all the active members they'd all be pretty aware that there are mod contests
I mean the fact that some of the topics on the first page of the mod section mention it, sometimes even in the topic title, would probably clue them in even if they didn't. Mods are probably the main reason people sign up, even if it's not why they end up hanging around.

Right now there are six roll to dodge topics in the forum games section.
There are only two contests.
RTD games are evidently at least as popular as contests, surely they should have a subforum too?
Or (more likely) neither of them should!

Metal Chao, that way you could justify almost any subforums, like dividing the Mod Releases into Large Factions, Total Conversions, Small Add-ons, anything.

But they share that with other topics too.
Just like the contests share the forum they are already in.
If it's OK for something with six topics to share forums, surely it's fine for something with only two?

Should I just start writing "I am giving a really stupid example in order to prove my point" after every single one of my posts or something
It keeps happening ):

My whole point is that this could justify any subforum
I am implying that because there's just as much merit for an RTD subforum as there is for contests, there shouldn't be a contests forum
Two contests is not enough that it needs the board to be subdivided more than it already is

If you really want to draw more attention to contests, stick a topic at the top of some already existing subform
Oh wait, THAT ALREADY EXISTS.

I was hoping you'd get that your argument half works and feel silly :P
However I'm pretty sure we've established that a mod contest subforum isn't happening, at least not until we have a lot more traffic to the mod contests, so you can feel free to stop flailing about in opposition to them.

But I feel honour bound to continue my flailing for as long as I see people flailing back at me from the other side of the great chasm of opposing opinions ):
If I stop posting they win!
