Post 'Innapprorpriate' or otherwise 'Not cool' content
Of this, I obviously speak of extreme graphic violence, offensive material, and everyone's favorite, sexual content.

Given that at the moment these 3 no-gos are a collective no-go, we live in a state of relative peace and calm. Somewhat.
I understand the reasons that content like this is banned and it makes a lot of sense in one perspective, but in another it can limit your posting ability. Obviously you aren't making mods about sex nor will you really find the need to say 'the N word' to someone (for the most part, although some people just roll like that).
I honestly think that, if you hide whatever content in a spoiler and give a warning as to what is inside, you should be clear. Because the only reason for offense is if you actually click it, then it would lie within the boundaries of personal fault. It's a system of someone dropping a spiked ball, and if you ♥♥♥♥♥ yourself because you picked it up then it's your own fault.

The reason for this is, well for one, most all of us here are mature enough to handle most offensive contents easily (most all of which are posted in Off Topic), and those who aren't are just children who tend to stay in the upper boards. I'm not trying to turn DRL into #lhb - god no - I'm just saying that it should be something that changes because it would give you more freedom without the fear of suppression the next minute.

No, this isn't a 'do whatever you want and get away with it' kind of deal. Posting a link to a website that may have some sort of offensive content shouldn't hurt your forum status though, because it is your responsibility to warn people for what may be ahead and if they ignore the warning then it's their fault.

First off, if I remember correctly, Data said he wanted to keep the forum more or less PG-13, so that's why this rule exists. Secondly, yes, it makes sense that the poster would be responsible for warning people, but usually, they don't. Even when they do, most people miss the warning - it's somewhat of a natural instinct for people to skip to a link or a spoiler. It ends up getting very subjective: how much warnings needs to be given? What if the warning is in a small font, or it's coloured in a way that makes people miss it? As well, I can't entirely guarantee that the spoiler code works. I can pretty much guarantee that in at least one browser, the JavaScript will break in such a way that it won't behave as it should.
The fact is, though, that this rule hardly ever gets enforced anyhow. Unless somebody posts something deeply disturbing or strongly sexual (in which case I don't see why it was posted here anyway), I'm not really going to do anything about it. Ultimately, it's left up to the moderators' discretions, and as long as you're being reasonable about what you're posting, it shouldn't be an issue. I don't think that's very stifling to anybody's expression.

Post Re: 'Innapprorpriate' or otherwise 'Not cool' content
Having posted some extremely 'Not cool' content of my own volition (and creation), while giving fair warning in doing so and reminding those who reacted to it in a reactionary way by reminding them of the fair warning put in place. Sadly, however, TLB is correct. People see spoilers and links and click them without taking in the warning that was very clearly there. I hope that this is not a reaction topic to that in particular, but rather a global reminder and confirmation of the policy in place.

The reason that comes to mind is one thing that you posted, Miggles, that really stood out to me:

and in this I totally agree with you. Entry to #LHB is purely voluntary, and if we were to provide a written warning of all the things that go on in there, it would be explicit material in itself to read. I don't claim to be an ambassador or anything, best leave that to Ms. Duh, but a community like DRL is far too well developed and well-mannered to become anything like #LHB, but I think people should know that there is somewhere to go if you feel like talking out of your ass and entertaining deluded notions of superiority and starting projects we have no intention of finishing.

People need to respect the fair warnings I or anyone else puts there. They genuinely mean something.

Come now, be honest, most of the time we're just joking about how raunchy we are while Rag and HK/Cave go on about DragonNext. The only time we ever really get NSFW is when Kelas, DS, or Non prompts us. Or Natti comes in the room.

To be quite honest, I've never seen this rule really limit anyone. The only time it's enforced is when the content is really bad, and at that point a large majority of the forum populace agrees wholeheartedly with the removal. We hold ourselves to a pretty high standard of posting quality here, and with that comes a lot of self-respect for the individual poster that prohibits posting extreme violence, gore, and sexual content.

Despite the fact that most people aren't, (myself included) I'm fairly certain I remember a 'You gotta be 18 to go on this forum, man' kind of thing when I signed up. However considering the age I stand I'd say I'm fairly ♥♥♥♥ up anyways so I just clicked 'k and started being a member.

Even though it's something that is obviously not enforced at all ever, you still are supposed to be 18.
Unless I'm talking out of my ass and my memory is just having some weird screw-ups.

There is One Way that this Issue Could be Fix But Would then Reflected on the Site Reputation, Open a NSFW Section
But This Would Ultimately be a Very Bad Idea.

I was merely suggesting a little rule change, not a 'post your porn' or 'call everyone a bastard' board.

What..?
No, I'm fairly certain you're the only one thinking we needed a new board for this.
I know(n) for a fact that I never thought that.

He was thinking that a DRL NSFW board would be A) hellish and B) a horrible idea.
Miggles even I could tell what Sims_Doc was saying, cmon man.

Goddammit Torrent you're the derp here.
Sims_Doc says: "everone was thinking it and you known you were."
Miggles responds: "No, I'm fairly certain you're the only one thinking we needed a new board for this."
I can not see what there is unclear for any party involved.

Natti, you're not one to be calling someone a derp, ever.
Of course noone was actually suggesting an NSFW board, that'd be awful for obvious reasons. But everyone who actually thought about it crossed the idea of an NSFW board, and thus thought it'd be awful. Sims Doc was saying an NSFW board would fix it, but would be a horrible idea. Natti thought he meant that an NSFW board should be added, then changed his mind.

Okay, this is going nowhere fast, and I think we've determined that the proposed rule change isn't necessary. I'm locking this for now, unless somebody PMs me with a reason it should be re-opened.
