The forums are acting quite slow at times. What's up with that?

Hm, I haven't been experiencing that. I only have FTP access to the forum, so I couldn't tell you for sure what's going on with the server, assuming it's not just at your end.

Yeah, I'm having this problem now and then too.
Sometimes it's just really slow, sometimes I can't reach the forums at all.

And me. Not having it right now. But it does happen.

It's intermittent. Some times it's bad, some times it's not.
I imagine it's probably something with the hoster's connection, maybe another of their customers is sucking up bandwidth at odd hours.

I'm getting "User drlforum_forum already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections [1203]" a lot recently. That's Error 1203, not the Max Connections is 1203 connections. DRL's been slow in general too, spates of lag where it takes a minute for a post to go through instead of the normal near instantaneous. This has been going on for several weeks, too, so it's not the B27 rush.

It's always slow for me from ~14:30 'til ~19:30 (CET). Go figure. :)

Guys, what's happening to the forum and main site? I haven't been able to access them since yesterday afternoon.
I've got a gut feeling that I am not the only one.

Firefox gives me this error:
Code:
The connection was reset;
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Internet Explorer just keeps on waiting.
Using a proxy site I can reach the forum, but am unable to upload my updated mods (because the .rar extension is not allowed; okaaay...).

My theory is that it's scumbag bots being scumbags and downloading all the attachements. Mods gather absurd amounts of downloads over relatively short periods of time; easily over five times the current active member count.
Is it within the power of any admin to look into this matter at all?

Bots wouldn't be downloading archives. If someone wanted to DOS the site in this way, there are better vectors they'd choose.

They're legitimate user downloads. CC is pretty popular, especially because of the new version's release(pirates use mods too). The only solution to this would be to use a bandwidth throttling module on the server, or host the files off-site(this is the correct solution).
