This is my first step in actual modmaking (as opposed to .ini edits for personal presets), this little mod is basically a Lua script that can be attached to an actor to make him change team to team 2 (in-code 3; I was forced to do this temporarily due to various problems and I hope to fix it somehow later) by pressing O or P and selecting other unit. Yes, that's right, TWO keys. Because CC wasn't designed to include team changing, I needed to predefine an AI routine - P stands for Peaceful (kinda), and makes the actor use Sentry AI - best used for 'sniper' scenarios, when you want the agent to wait in a certain place. O stands for 'I'm close to P' and represents Brainhunt AI. BOTH mean that the unit shoots at your troops if it sees them.

Crashes may and will occur - most annoyingly, when an actor from either team kills unit freshly converted to his team (they resume shooting coroutine). I turned the other main bug - team reset when you select the unit again - into a feature. However, for some mysterious reason every Agent, at least of the same type, will change teams when you press O or P, I tried IsPlayerControlled but it doesn't seem to work. On the other hand, my code is probably horrible.

I will upload pics later; for now the default actor is Dimitri but you can easily use the script for other actors, including non-vanilla ones.

I just tried this, and I love it! Push-button ease is always great in a mod too.

Edit: I realized, this is cheatmode, it should be great for testing mods.

Thanks! Good idea with the testing thing, I may upload a version with completely passive actor if it could be useful. I'll try to get some pics today.

I have no idea, but I don't see any reason why it would not.
The 'too hard to code' part - it's actually hard to code properly, and as you can see yourself, there is quite a few problems with this one - for some reason certain behaviours are seemingly hardcoded, like this thing about team reset on select, multiple units changing teams, and so on. However, I have an idea how to fix the problem with crashes on friendly kill.
