The Gyro Wheel

WE NEED TO GO FASTER!

Hello there, have you ever had an urge to smash things, not just shoot them or turn them into pincushions with those pokey things called bullets, but just simply crash into everything and send them all flying? Well I've got just what you need. A long lost cousin of the wrecking ball, this seemingly commonplace wheel can do a lot more than just roll around.

Using raw kinetic strength, the GyroWheel crashes through targets, and with its reinforced all-terrain tire rubber, it can withstand most small arms fire while smashing enemies into oblivion over and over again.

To help the Gyro Wheel maneuver, the wheel is capable of short jumps off of solid surfaces, and at the cost of some speed, it can use spikes to grip the ground, climb walls, or even cling on to ceilings.

Finally, notice those sparkles around your Gyro Wheel?
Image

That's a good sign because it means that your Gyro Wheel is now capable of entering GYROTIME.

An ordinary Gyro Wheel is capable of knocking units apart...
Image

But under GyroTime, the wheel's power quadruples and it becomes capable of completely flattening most targets with a single blow by literally slowing down time while speeding itself up.
Image
that's the same Gyro Wheel, killing the same dummies, but at a time frame 1/4 as fast as normal.

Sadly, due to how extremely energy consumptive time warping is, the Gyro Wheel can only maintain this state for a few seconds, although that should be more than enough to devastate pretty much everything within sight.

To activate/deactivate spikes, press down/crouch ("s" by default)

To enter GyroTime, all you have to do is press "g" and make sure you don't fly off the map before the timer wears off.

File comment: V1.1
- Slightly more stable, some optimization
- Spikes now deal less terrain rape and actually work properly during GyroTime.

File comment: V1.2
- Gyrotime glows now change depending on the Gyro Wheel's rotation angle.
- Gyro Wheel won't get deleted when forced into the ground anymore.

Goddamn, son. You make this ♥♥♥♥ fast.
AND IT'S GREAT.
You're like the new big modder guy here.

Anyway, the wheel itself is pure ♥♥♥♥.
♥♥♥♥ yes that's a word.Also, italics are cool.
Everything about it is great. It works really well, and the time warp feature is really, really cool. It's a nice use of TLB's time mod.

I like it, it's effective and pretty original, and works well too.

nice, but the images are broken.

ok, their fixed.
Looks epic.
i wont download because of my monitor being dead(top of screen scooted down and the bottom is cut off, and i cant fix it.[10 year old screen])and it would be useless if i did.
got it fixed....had to lower the refresh rate to 60Hz from 75Hz.
download, epic mod.

Does anyone know the code for making an object not disappear when it gets pushed into the ground?

Code:
self.Age = 0;
if self.ToDelete = true then
    self.ToDelete = false;
end

There's more safeguards but I forget what they are.

Very nice. The smooth rolling and surface clinging both work pretty well, and do so with impressively little terrain damage. The GyroTime effect is nice too, but having a few afterimage glows at different rotations would improve it.
If you reworked the clinging effect so it sticks to surfaces while moving slowly or not at all, that would give it really good mobility.

Ok I am stuck on how to get the glows to change based on the wheel's rotation without resorting to massive amounts of blocky coding.

I mainly want to be able to define a value "i" which represents the many different rotational angles possible for the wheel.

I'm not very familiar with for statements though, so if I were to use this code:
Code:
   for i=-360, 360, 45 do
Would "i" take the values of -360, -315, -270, -225, -180, -135... 270, 315, 360 (basically intervals of 45 from -360 to 360)

Or does "i" work differently?

edit: nevermind, just realized that rotation angle works with radians and not degrees.

Dayum son, I got me sum spinnun' rims.

Other than that, this is fun to play with. Pop it down on Dummy Assault and just roll into the brain room.

5 out 5 mod right here.

Should I add a mini turret to the wheel?

If so, should it shoot bullets, lasers, or missiles?

If it's doable, you should make the wheel shoot those gripping spikes everywhere.

I say lasers :)
