Kelas, Wizard James implemented that long ago and it failed to help with this at all. If anything, it made it worse, as anybody posting less than x number of characters would fill the rest with "blahblahblahblahblahblah circumventing spamcheck blahblahblah". It was disabled for that very reason.

Could have a rule against adding useless extra digits.

Warn everyone that does that.
Better yet, ban them. Authoritarian rule is the way to go.

Kelas, the fact is that it's more trouble than it's worth. Nobody here who wants to install it has power to do so, and nobody with power to do so wants to. It's been proven to do nothing more than require moderating and banning, so frankly I see no reason it's going to happen.

Or, crazy idea: we could just warn/ban anyone who makes these useless posts in the first place!

Woohoo!

Everybody should check the OP, we have new rules about modders banning their mods from distribution.

It doesn't help anyone to just say that you downloaded a mod, or that you got the first post.

Provide feedback, don't post for the sake of posting.

It's literally right above your post and you can't follow it? This is general forum conduct advice, bud.

This one went right over your head. How much ♥♥♥♥ did you suck to become moderator?

The point is to FORCE users to CONTRIBUTE by making posts with CONTENT.

Installing the suggested modification will allow us to set the standard for what is or isn't contributing, so that the biased and incompetent moderators can't just make judgment calls, seeing as how they can't be trusted as far as they can be thrown.

But the point isn't to have everybody post to some arbitrary length of characters but to some level of content which is inherently a subjective quality (and also cannot be measured by a script yet).

For example, a perfectly fine post that is lower than 200 characters.

My mod will be delayed about week while I recover from syphallis. Sorry for the delay guys.

That's not even 100.

200 characters? You're suggesting that people be required to post more...than a Tweet?

This is why the minimum character count is variable and can be changed how we see fit.

It's a lot of hassle for something we haven't had that much trouble with to give my humble opinion.

It's not a lot of trouble, it's just poor judgment calls such as Duh's that is a lot of trouble for the community.

Minimum character counts are a stupid idea, name one instance of issues caused by people not posting a novel. Even a low limit would be an issue for important posts that could be made. Long posts =/= good posts. I say people are just dealt with for stupid posts, as they already will be with the new rules, and that we don't try to fix what isn't broken.
