The runes and other little details look snazzy, although i'll go out on a limb and say that the shading is DANGEROUSLY CLOSE to pillow shading, and the tip of the blade seems a bit funky. Note that in general, shading tends to look better when the light doesn't come directly from the viewer. It's harder, yes, but it looks better. Also, regarding sharpness of the blade, a common trick is to simply made the edge of the blade much brighter than the rest, as well as having a specular reflection where applicable. Of course, i had to try this myself to remind me how it works, so...
Yeah, I did it pixel art style, I'm pretty bad at doing it in other ways. Though I'm getting better. As for the blade, it did come out a bit badly. I'm still quite inexperienced with shading but I think I'll get the hang of it eventually. Also, making the edge brighter? Brilliant idea, something I should've realized. I made a gradient by layering the different shades, then hitting it with Gaussian blur to make the blade seem more metallic. My next weapon will be better I believe

 Re: Art Dump
Excellent, looking forward to seeing it. c: Also, i'd advise you to be careful with gradients, because it's actually pretty rare in real life to see a gradient like that (the light level actually only visibly tapers off near the edges of the lit area). And, funkily enough, a key characteristic of metallic shading is that the lighting level changes rather significantly and abruptly as opposed to smoothly and faintly. You're much better off googling a metal shading tutorial than you are listening to an inexperienced doodleguy (read: me) rambling, but in any case, i decided to study metal shading a bit for my own sake. went somewhat okay But anyways, main point is that metal tends to be much more reflective than most other materials, so you'll be seeing very sharp differences in light. Now i shall go back to doodling in Paint. :U

 Re: Art Dump
That would've been helpful when I was starting out most definitely! But, it's actually probably more helpful now that I have a foothold rather than no clue at what i was doing.
The differing art styles at the bottom by individual sprite artists were neat too.
