Leave and watch them burn in hell whilst sitting on a comfy couch and smoking a pipe by a fireplace.

I agree with my comrades here. Leave, and let the place burn.

Being a moderator is addictive, I can understand why you'd want to stay.

My site's webspace is owned by a guy who does absolutely the most possible to get in my way whilst doing absolutely nothing at all in the community

And he's root admin so when he does something like troll someone who dislikes Christmas because they have abusive parents there's nothing I can do except lock the Christmas topic because I can't ban them.
I say this because it's what I just had to do.
Christmas is cancelled guys.

That must really suck.

On a note related to the situation at my site, one of Metazaku's developers is coming back online, Pirate. He's a really cool guy, and idolize how he moderates. He's not in control of Zerozaku per se, but a developer of Metazaku, which is the network of sites Hero owns. He technically is a developer I guess. And the site goofball Eon, you know the crazy conspiracy theorist has been making some funny posts again. He's not just being an asshat flaming everyone. Following all the rules while acting like a loon.

Yeah it's a chore but you miss it when its gone. Whenever I see a double post on this forum I reach for my infraction button and I feel a sense of profound loss when it isn't there.

To be honest it think that is a matter of opinion or it changes between certain things, never really been a Admin/Mod over a forum but i had been over a few online games and i'm rather glad i'm not a admin or mod anymore as well as the fact i kinda loathe being one after awhile.

I made my own forum, er, a few months ago for my irl friends, and it's a lot of fun.

Hahah Chao. I may not be an admin over yonder but I totally feel your pain. It kinda sucks when the root admin can't fix a login problem *ahem *ahem

It really depends on the community. If you're an admin on a little forum, say, with all your friends, you can just goof around and abuse your powers and everything's fun. Being an admin in a bigger operation is really bureaucratic, though. I used to be a moderator on a really big minecraft server, and not only was there a ridiculous protocol to follow and near constant policing of the 50+ users on at once, but there were also a few higher-ups who were insufferable pricks. And those few made sure they were everybody's boss while the nicer admins hardly went on at all.

There's something about online moderation that attracts people like that.

it the power over other people and human demand of respect.
i been to a lot of places where people are pretty much just " i have power, you will respect me and bow before me or i'll use this power to make you disappear from the server/place fully" speaking of admins and mod's i was banned once cause i made a remark about a mod/Admin whom was drunk most of the time, it was rather hilarious at the time.
