I think you're spelling "pointless off-topic absurdity" wrong.

Although, what the topic was in the first place, I'm not certain.

What are the specifications of the new machine that you plan on building?

Haha, this topic sort of went off track :P

But yeah, the specs im hoping for are:

Rather an i5-2500K, or one of the new Bulldozer chips
1TB 6Gb/s 7200RPM HDD
Probably an SSD for Windows 7 (64bit)
A Radeon HD6950 or GTX 560ti/570
8GB of 1600MHz RAM
750W PSU (probably Corsair)
A Coolermaster case, probably the Enforcer.

And thats what im hoping for if i get the cash needed :D

(I have £100 atm, +£160 to come, then £300 from next week when i go to work before i go back to school, then i have Birthday and Xmas! :P)

2 things:

1) Get the 560ti/570

2) Why the ♥♥♥♥ do you need 750 watt? I can guarantee you that 650 is more than enough for that setup.

Otherwise, that is one mean machine.

I may even get an 850W, because I will probably using one card, then when i need to, grab another and use Crossfire/SLI.

I just built a desktop, cost me about $1400 USD with keyboard and mouse and monitor and everything.

the important specs:

i5 2500K
Radeon HD 6870
1.5TB 7200rpm HDD
64GB SSD
8 gigs of memory
ASRock P67 EXTREME4 MoBo
Antec 300 illusion mid tower
Windows 7
Firefox

I can give you the exact details, if you're interested. Everything worked right out of the box. The PSU was 750W for about $55, though that particular deal has expired.

Woah that is a nice build, and im considering alot of those components :D

I will be having 8GB of RAM, a 6870 (maybe 6950), and I will be trying to get an SSD for Windows to boot on? Do you use your SSD for Windows? Does it fit OK?

Also if you could go into a bit more detail with what mouse/keyboard and monitor you got, that would be of great help ;)

My SSD has Windows and antivirus along with some other often-used programs, and it's less than half full, so I'll probably add some stuff later. SSD technology is still in the early phases of adoption and there are some kinks to work out, though. One piece of advice is to avoid writing to the SSD very much, as write operations wear it out much faster than read operations. Putting your OS on an SSD makes it boot up lightning-fast, on the order of 15 seconds from cold start to browsing the web.

I got a Razor Abyssus wired mouse. It was entirely unnecessary to get anything other than a standard optical mouse, but I suppose the LED looks cool and it probably does give somewhat better performance than standard, though it's not terribly noticeable to me. The one thing I would definitely recommend is getting a wired mouse; wireless technology is just way too vulnerable to interference and whatever benefit you gain will be quickly forgotten when it stops working for whatever reason and you have to reset it or dig out a wired mouse anyway. As for the Abyssus in particular, I guess I could have used one more button, but the standard 3-button setup works fine for basically everything. The keyboard was this ridiculously cheap thing. I miss some of the multimedia functions I have on my laptop's keyboard, but honestly, I would have had to pay something like five times as much money for such a small increase in functionality that I saw no compelling reason to get anything else.

This is the monitor I got. It works just fine, though the stand is a bit flimsy and the buttons require you to brace the monitor from the back as you push them, but I had no problems with dead pixels or troublesome color adjustment.

I also got this cooling system for the CPU. It's huge, but it fits just fine and cools really well.

OT: I would recommend getting the most cost efficient parts possible. I mean, that may be an apparent fact with most things; 'get the best you can for the least you can', but I feel that it really is important to consider depending on your budget. This laptop I'm on was only 500~600 USD and it actually runs on the line of a gaming computer. My specs wouldn't agree with me on that, but it seems like it runs a lot faster than it should.
