What would you do? I read through that thread lucariokiller made, and it gave me this idea. Personally, if I was Prime Minister of the UK, I'd probably slap down some vicious import tarrifs and corporate subsidies. And pretty much remove the income tax on corporations of any size, small and large business grants would also be set up. And I'd see where to go from there. So, what would you do if you was the ruler of the country you currently live in? |

Do my best to legalize as many drugs I can, legalize concealed and open carry in every state, legalize abortion everywhere, legalize gay/lesbian marriage, remove the death penalty and change the jail system to a much more hospitable one where the murderers, rapists, etc are helped to become stable members of society, and where the petty thieves are only charged a fine and not sent in jail for taking a slurpee from the corner store. Of course since our political system is filled with exceptionally stupid people who also tend to disagree with reason, I'd say I would have to be a dictator - not a president - if I wanted any real change. |

Start a massive campaign on the medical, scientific, and psychological dangers of abortion. Leave people to decide for themselves. Remove the current income and corporate tax systems and replace them with a 15% flat tax with income minimums and assorted family deductions for personal and a one shot more sensible rate for businesses. Institute corporate subsidies. Remove the federal welfare system. Withdraw American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. Force china to annul our dept based on Chinese loan default prior to World War II. In return annul the 2 trillion remaining that they owe us. Use the money saved from the welfare system to start paying down our debts. Institute a stricter and more rigorous border defense policy using the National Guard. Pay these troops with part of the money saved from Iraq and Afghanistan. Also I'd executive veto in term limits for every government position and then, as a final veto act, remove the executive veto power. Yeah, I'd have a busy four years. |

If my economic reforms that I said in the OP then, well, I'd invest the income back into the economy, around...Ninety percent of what is going into the treasury will be invested into the economy. The rest will be used to build a safety net in the event of a recession. |
