When I got home from school I found the following on my bed.

I wonder what that might contain....

Hmmm, that looks like... But it can't be, it was shipped just a week ago....

Nope, it is.

So my London City neck just came in the mail. I'd swear the ones in the ad had abalone/MoP binding but I'm actually really glad this one has maple binding.
The quality of this neck is amazing. The heel is about as comfortable as an AANJ and the neck is a thin D shape, which feels just right to me.
The inlays are real MOP and are handcut and glued into roughly cut holes that were then filled with something slightly darker than the fretboard. To me this looks like a black outline which I like but I can imagine it no being everybody's taste.
I measured it again and it does looks like it's actually a 24" scale neck, meaning that it's not an exact PRS clone. Ah well, I'll have to live with that.

Here's one more pic of the inlays and binding:

So, now for what is currently the plan:
Grab a set of schaller tuners off the internet for cheap.(matches holes.)
Buy a hipshot bridge at a reasonable price.(probably.)
Pickups, either BKPs(expensive option) or iron gears.(cheap and good, just like the neck)
Figure out which shape the body will have.

As for that last point, I'm currently thinking along the lines of this ESP
But with a 45* bevel around the edges instead of the carve top, just like a paul rhoney oceana.
Walnut body with a painted top.(like a good light blue, white or black.) with natural sides and back.

So, that's it then, I've officially embarked on this epic journey!
Questions? Comments? Complaints about my sure to come future mistakes? POST THEM!

Do it. From one guitar player to another, buy the nice option. I did a guitar build a little while back, but most of it was from scratch (barring the neck. SORRY I DON'T KNOW THE PREPORTIONS AND DON'T HAVE THE TOOLS TO MAKE A NECK CORRECTLY)

It sounds pretty good, but my electrics are a bit funky. It only ever sounds distorted (in a good way, like distortion), so I end up only playing it with the band when we're all really in the mood for punk or something. Thing has twang too. Like Folk-Punk. It's pretty cool. Really light, too. The head is maple but it's so small that it feels more like I'm playing a banjo or something (except most of my banjos weigh more than that because they have a lot of metal).

I put in another pickup (something off a borked guitar I found in a dump), hoping it would fix it. Basically now it has 4 pick ups and sounds like a ♥♥♥♥ badass "I'm going to rape you so hard it isn't even funny" guitar (ps, that's ACTUALLY what we call it. "Man, that guitar sounds so gnarly, like it's raping my ears so hard it isn't even funny...")

It's cheap, but it's nice.

Haha, that's exactly why I ain't making my own neck.

I always thought you had butchered a tele to built that thing. Btw, concerning your distorted sound: did you wrap the insides of that thing in copper foil or not? Because if you don't it will probably also hum like a mother ♥♥♥♥ and distort your sound badly.

Btw, I wanna make this my classy guitar. Or make it looks classy, it's still gonna rock like the others but just look like a new age classic. Mostly because I already have a silver and transparent purple Ibanez RG550. So less flash, more class, even moar rock and roll!

It's complicated. The neck and the original pick ups, yes. I had some home-made pickups in for a while (as in a couple days) but they didn't work well and also broke really quick. The body there was either the first or the second body I built for it. The first was a from the butchered telecaster, but the second was remade by hand. Both looked exactly the same pretty much. Paintless, pointless, and completely hardcore.

And about them pickups.

No.

No I did not wrap the inside. That is very likely the answer.

I can see why making a nice guitar look nice is a good thing. Just don't back down half way through and start going the easy path. And the purple ibanez is sick. I think I remember you posting a picture of it.

What do you play, anyways? Just plain ol' rock and roll?

Edit:

I think I may try to make the not funny ear raper from complete scratch when I get back and hold it in my hands again. That looks pretty easy, though I don't have that fretboard measure thing. I always thought it was a lot more complicated, what with the truss rod and the frets and the head and nut. It wont sound better than what I have, but It'll look awesomer.

I've recently went from metal to more rock-ish things. Like the drills, who are awesome.

I meant the insides of the guitar, to isolate it. You put copper tape all over the insides to isolate them, then you ground everything, including the copper plating and attach your ground to the output jack.

I thought I'd done that much. Maybe I didn't have copper tape and said I'd get back to it later when I did (and then never did). Maybe I just am ♥♥♥♥ with solder (Read: I am just ♥♥♥♥ with solder). I don't know, it doesn't bother me. I have playable electric guitars, and no matter how much I do with it it will never be my best or most favorite guitar. Just the one I like to jam on when I'm feeling in that mood. You know that mood. Everybody does.

I mean, I listen to folk music pretty much exclusively, yet sometimes I just have to put on something like Flogging Molly (or the Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, Real McKenzies, Mahones, or someone from the list of non-irish punk bands I have) or the Black Keys, or something more hard. Sometimes you just need a break from what you listen to. I often get that way with guitar playing, and thusly I have the defiling of solemn ears.
