Post Crash on startup - Slish bug
Yes, I have a support topic. Shush. I needed to install it for the lappytop.

Anyway- CC crashes almost instantly on startup. It can't load the "slish.wav" file in Base.rte/actors, but I have checked and Slish is there.

I HAVE downloaded a mod, but since it doesn't even get to the mod loading and the mod is CRobos I think that has nothing to do with it.

And the filepath for slish is fine.

have you tried moving slish and the filepath?
For instance to simple base.rte and change the filepath to exactly that?
I used to have the same problem and that worked for me.

I'll try.
Edit later for if it works.
EDIT: No. Didn't work.

I have no idea why not.

And I tried a reinstall earlier... Hm..

Maybe you should just comment out the line that references it. you may be one sound short in game, but hey, atleast it should load.

...Ok, I think there's something wrong with the laptop. It can't load "squish" either, which gives me the idea that it won't load anything.

I'll get someone to look at the laptop, thanks for trying to help though.

What operating system is it running? And can we get a picture of the abortscreen.bmp?

I'm curious.

Sounds like a mod error, just get rid of this "base" mod you're using.

That or maybe the laptop isn't fast enough to keep up with the content loader, if it has its own speed it works at or something. I had this problem with the DSTECH pack where it just refused to load the damn file, so I made the name shorter, changed it to an easier directory.

Wrong, it's neither error.

Do you ever shut down windows processes to gain CC performance? I've had this exact error after shutting down Explorer.exe to gain performance (what, it's safe). Also, I believe it happened after deleting the SYSTEM process of svchost.exe.

Have you rebooted yet? That's all I can think of.

No, base.rte is where the vanilla CC content is.

I had this error once.
Roboot the computer. It works.

HAH! I hooked one!!

And anyways, it sounds like the laptop could even use a good ol' reformat if this kind of problem persists.

Are you serious? It usually resets itself doesn't it? And isn't explorer.exe what controls the operating systems' file/folder explorer programs?

It doesn't restart itself.

And Task Manager is able to launch programs without needing the windows shell.

How do you do that?
