Delete settings.ini and Cortex Command will make a new one.

Common Error 1 and 2 can be cured by doing the following :-

You need to do the following to the Cortex Command Icons on the Desktop and the Start Menu

Right Click Cortex Command Icon > Click 'Properties' > Click 'Advanced' > Click (Check Box) 'Run as Administrator' > Click 'OK'

This solved all my problems :)

Post Re: [FAQ] General Troubleshooting READ IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!
Hey, I'm getting an error when I double click on "Cortex Command.exe" to start the game. I'm attempting to install this on windows XP. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

The error code:

" D:\games\Cortex Command\Cortex Command.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. "

I've tried reinstalling 3 times now.

Thanks

This might have been posted already, but I am a very impatient nooblet, so I'll hope some kind soul takes pity upon me. Whenever I attempt to run the game in full screen (using the alt+enter) I get this message, and then it reverts to windowed, with a bunch of black (that clears if I can shoot it, strangely). I'm no code monkey and this game on my previous computer worked without a hitch (that was a few builds ago) so I'm kind of at a loss as what to do aside from manually adjust the aspect ratio to that of my desktop.

Hi- Thank you for this forum, it is very helpful to people.

NOW on to the issue I am having with the game: During gamemodes such as skirmish defense or any of the wave defense gamemodes, the enemy will often fail to spawn, dropships never appear for them, or any of their troops. I'm left sitting with a base that has no purpose. Now, this sometimes doesn't happen. Sometimes the enemy does spawn, and eventually stops coming, or only a few (5-10) enemies ever spawn. I have tried re-installing the game, but that didn't help me. Thank you!

Hey there!

I've bought your game recently and Im not able to play it because of "RTE Aborted! (x_x)" error at the loading screen.

Abortion in file .\System\ContentFile.cpp, line 516, because:
Failed to load datafile object with following path and name:

Ronin.rte/Effects/Sounds/RPGThrusterStart.wav

The last frame has been dumped to 'abortscreen.bmp'

Tried every solution posted on this forum, nothing helped. All drivers are updated, windows is up to date too. The game is installed outside of program files folder and launched as an administrator. I also tried reinstalling it couple of times with no luck. Please help!

whargarbl: this is a known error with the latest build, it very often fails to go into fullscreen under any circumstances, no fix I'm afraid.

doom517: it sounds like one of your files is messed up, post your abortscreen.bmp

I get a Common Error Two every time I try to use a mod.

It's a different one with every mod, but I can provide an example if you'd like.
