First. That depends on your definition of "recent". If we were thinking in geological terms, Pong would be a very recent game.

Second. It was released on the seventeenth of november of 2004. Therefore, it is from only 4 years, 9 months and 18 days ago.

Third. Here in third-world countries, games usually take some more time to reach the stores. It was only released 3-4 months after its arrival in North America, making it much more recent for people like me.

Fourth. None of the reasons I mentioned is strong or believable enough to discredit your point, so feel free to ignore all that gibberish I wrote in the previous sentences.

I felt that this needed to be posted here.

I tried the demo of one of the newer Sonics that was a 3-D adventure.
The controls are all wacky and broken.
Didn't like it.

I liked the original 3 Sonics, and Sonic battle 1 and 2 (dreamcast for $60, yeah). Otherwise, they didn't impress much. Haven't tried any of the ones on the 360, but as soon as they had more than 5 side characters at a time it kinda sucked.

Duh you had sonic adventure 1 and 2 for the DreamCast to? i just posted in another topic about it! i love those games as they got me into sonic but i think you made a silly typo cause you said original three sonic games but i think you meant to put it before sonic 1 and 2 because unless you are talking about the gameboy or something the sonic adventure games were the original >_>. you should really try the new ones even though they are different they are still good

I do. SEGA is, like Nintendo, trying to spread their iconic characters too thin. It's just making them look bad. New, non-Sonic-universe characters would make me happier, even if their games sucked. It would at least be a step in the right direction.
