Play Nethack, Dungeon Crawl, or Rogue. Then read a summary of whichever one you attempted to survive past 15th level in. Then base everything on that.

Only campaign I was ever in was...blegh...a Neopets campaign. The DM was so over-protected that it was horrifying. Yet even with such a TERRIBLE and CHILDISH campaign setting, I still enjoyed myself. So, I suppose I'd probably like to start another campaign...how do you play D&D Online? And how come NOBODY knows anything about Psions?

Everyone denies all knowledge of Psions because they were so silly that they are never allowed in 90% of games.

You play D&D online with either a program (like 8 different ones have been mentioned in here) or you use an irc client and pray everyone has a microphone and skype. That said, if someone else wants to DM/GM/ST/NS I'd be willing to play. A few people, myself included would be willing to play with you etc. we just need to set ♥♥♥♥ up

I may or may not be running some form of D&D campaign/one-shot/horrific TPK machine.

I'm at GMT-7, playing should generally be in the evening, around 7, but I could move that if you guys need it to be moved. (For those of you who are lazy/don't know your time zones yet, that is GMT 200 the next day, or something like 2200 or 2300 on the East coast)

i know nothing about psions, learning about a new set of rules is quite annoying for a dm as its another damn complete arcane to memorize. also fellow dms, how do you make your monsters? do you follow the ones straight from the monster manual, or make up random creatures/machines/people/undead?

A few days ago, my cousin and sister and I played and improvised tabletop game cause we had nothing better to do. We used Lego Bionicles for characters and a map from some game guide for the map. The game soon ended however, because my cousin didn't balance the enemies right, and on the second battle, 2 carrion birds had a meal consisting of a 2 warriors, and a healer. In other words, the enire party.

I might be able to actually plan something if anyone posted anything relevant.

Frankly, I'd LOVE to play, but I have no idea how to get started on any of it, and I have absolutely NO friends who would even remotely consider it.
First things first. Where would one learn the fundamentals?

For learning about D&D, go look for the d20 SRD. It's online, and has what you need to get started.

In other news; not a single player told me when they could play, gave me a sheet (aspasia excepted), or seemed to know what was going on.

I am currently working on a homebrew system inspired by CaCr, //CE, HP, and whatever else I come across that fits in. Talk to me on IRC if you want more information.

Post Re: D&D and such
I've always wanted to play D&D, mainly because I love dungeon crawlers. Also the freedom to do anything in combat situations, and that it requires actual thinking.
The reasons I've never played are:
1. My friends think I'm lame enough already.
2. The rules seem a tad complicated.
3. I'm worried about addiction.
I think my schedule might be a little busy to play online though. Sigh.

So, I guess this post was pointless. Oh well.

PITY ME!
