So we had one ancient topic about this game and it sucked ass, so I'm making the new one.

GARRY'S MOD

Let's do the FAQ.

Q: The ♥♥♥♥ is Garry's Mod and why should I care.

A: ♥♥♥♥ you. Also use a question mark next time. Garry's Mod, or Gmod, is a source engine modification turned retail product on Steam that allows you to construct anything your feeble mind can conjure up.

Anything from the amazing (and if building a 100% automatic robot shot to another planet and collecting a probe there with no player interaction isn't amazing to you, you can blow me):

To the whimsical:

To the downright mortal terror inspiring:

Gmod does it all. Including online multiplayer where you grief co-operate with chumps friends.

Q: What if I don't want to build/interfere with those attempting to build ♥♥♥♥?

A: Gmod is ENDLESSLY moddable. Aside from coming with a generous list of default gametypes built in, such as the devious Trouble in Terrorist Town, you can download a near unlimited list of gametypes from the toy box, the built in mod content delivery system that works like an Xbox Live DLC menu, except everything is free. Browse your favourite category, download something that tickles your fancy, and within seconds that content is available for you to use without even having to restart the game.

Gmod is basically the only game you ever really need, since with a little coding it can be anything you want it to be.

Q: I suffer from a distinct and all too common mental disorder that prevents me from enjoying anything that isn't Minecraft. Will Gmod cure me?

A: Only if you let it.

Q: This is all sounding pretty neat, I should get my friends together and play.

A: Yes.

Q: And we can finally build a My Little Pony them-

A: No.

Q: How might one acquire this game?

A: 10 dollars on Steam.

Q: I still kind of want to build a My Little P-

A:

EDIT SINCE I FORGOT SOME ♥♥♥♥:

Q: Why should I have a lot of Source engine games in conjunction with Gmod?

A: Gmod uses content from a great deal of source engine games, such as props and ragdolls, and many mods rely on some of the content from Valve games to function. Gmod by default WILL RUN STANDALONE, but it will be pretty common for you to find the big red Error sign if you download something that calls for content you don't have.

Q: If I want a fairly seamless Gmod experience, what Source games should I consider getting?

A: Counterstrike: Source, Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2, Half Life 2: Lost Coast, and TF2 are all safe bets. Additional content can be taken from pretty much every Valve game so if you have Left for Dead, Day of Defeat: Source, and so on, you will have more content to play around with. None of these games are required, but they will make your experience in Gmod a more complete one.

DOUBLE EDIT:

Here is a picture of me flipping off Alduin from Skyrim.

I've had Gmod for a while, but aside from derping around with npcs, making random poses (I had one with hat poker and the tf2 crew), and trying out some random mods I haven't done much.

I've played like 3 mods, 2 of which were fairly unpopular for obvious reasons. (TTT, Some survival thing, and BUILDABOAT)

I don't know the name of any cool ones, care to tell me?

I usually just build ♥♥♥♥ or play Trouble in Terrorist Town, but a good place to scope out gametypes is in Toy Box, just look into it and hit top rated. A few of them seem pretty weird, but also interesting.

Elevator: Source was the best thing to ever happen to Gmod.

I fully agree with you,i can clearly say that level is something like "Showoff" of an modability of Source engine and its ability to work with many things and all of those put together and welded with such a gorgeous moding skills...

I'm too immature to do anything more that spawn a million manhacks and run around shooting them until my ammo runs out while on de_Dust.

The correct thing to do when you first start is spawn a vehicle, attach manhacks all around the vehicle, spawn ♥♥♥♥ of zombies.
Drive.

Open up the dupes menu and spawn the most retarded vehicle you can make work, run over all your friends.

I used to go on darkrp servers, become the gun dealer, and shoot everyone
then when I run out of money, I wall them in the spawn and eventually leave when they find a way out
