Klimt: "In the chain? Is is safe enough to leave her immobile out here?"

There is no response. Mary has already walked inside, and is gently humming a vaguely familiar song. Rosa walks inside to ask her more questions.

The interior of Mary's house is... Surprisingly comfortable. The rusted metal walls are softened by hung pelts and simple tapestries, and a cozy fire burns in an improvised clay stove. Your host skewers a few unidentifiable vegetables on a stick, and starts roasting them over the open flame.

Rosa: "Do you hunt around here, or only farm?"

Mary: "Well, I don't hunt per se, but every so often I have to fend some wolves off. Their meat is a welcome addition to my diet. Uhm, I don't have any at the moment, though. Terribly sorry about that."

Back outside, Eigla hands Peggy the leather, which the girl uses as bedding as she closes the collar around her own neck.

Peggy: "G-go on in. I'll be okay. I hope..."

Then, check out the garden. How big is it? Can it easily be expanded? What's being grown?

Eigla walks around the house. The cargo container comprises most of the actual living space, with the partially crushed cab serving as storage. It connects to the derelict building, now essentially four low walls, which house the sheep, with a covered area in case it rains. She notes a strange lack of beds, or cots for that matter. Does Mary sleep on the floor?

The garden butts agains one of the walls, with a simple wooden gate to keep livestock out. The vegetables are... Mostly unknown, actually. Bulbous tubers and roots are abundant, with some other, more exotic varieties taking up the rest of the space. A small patch of flowers on a side makes her smile.

It should not be too hard to expand the planting space; the earth around the house is mostly flat, and seems fertile enough. Getting enough material to fence it in, however, could be a problem. There is also the question of who would take care of it all. Mary seems to devote most of her efforts toward her flock's wellbeing.

Rosa: "That's fine. We shall hunt to feed ourselves."

Mary: "That's mighty decent of you, dear. I'm glad to have such thoughtful guests. Now let's see, I'm quite sure I had some fresh cheese around here..."

Rosa notices Mary is still riding her ram, which makes moving around the house a bit of a hurdle. The lack of furniture helps, but it's still unusual.

Outside, Klimt comforts the trembling Peggy.

Klimt: "I have no idea what's out in the darkness. You won't be alone."

She manages to mumble something akin to a "thank you", amid her tears.

"No fear now... you got us this far.

I have to pretend to be harsh around Mary and Eigla, since they hate you so much. But I'll keep my promise.

Eigla. When I was sleeping I had a strange dream. A girl like her was crushing my head under her boot. I don't know if she likes me..."

"Mary, why are you still riding Mary?
Are you actually both the same Mary?

Wait was that a rude question."

Peggy takes a deep breath, then looks away. She seems a bit better. Good enough to talk, at least.

Peggy: "It's not a dream. The dead don't dream. A-at least I don't. Which is stupid. I miss dreams.
I guess, uh, dreams were about the future? Now that it's all over... Yeah.
When we sleep, we just - remember. If you saw her crush your skull, then it happened once. Might still happen again."

Eigla takes a short walk around the house, taking care not to stray too far. Mostly grass, though it's grown sparse from being eaten by the flock. Very little loose rubble, most having been used to build the fieldstone wall. There is a distinct line of cut stumps and burned trees before the forest - it seems someone tried to push back the encroaching woods not too long ago.

Mary just smiles, lighting up an improvised oil lamp. You realise her legs, if she has any, have so far been completely obscured by her long wool dress.

Mary: "My, my. That's a rather philosophical question for dinnertime, isn't it? Let's just say, dismounting would be rather hard for me. We make a good duo."

Peggy: "No.

Actually, there was that time I stabbed a guy in the armpit. That was pretty fun! - Uhm. T-though, I guess it wasn't a nice thing to do. So. Nnnot really."
