"Alright, cat. Lead the way."

Icarus turns and leads you down the narrow street, probably East. Most of the buildings here lack windows and a lot of the doors are heavily locked or barred in some way. You almost get to the end of the street and Icarus stops, suddenly enough for you to step on his tail. He yelps and fluffs himself up at you, then calms down and looks across the street at a payphone box.

You point at it.
"You want me to call someone?"
He just looks at you like he knows something you don't. Then the phone rings.

You step to the curb and look both ways along the street; nobody is even thinking of being out-and-about this early in the morning - the sun isn't even up for hours yet.

You cross the few metres to the phone box and look back at Icarus. The cat is cleaning itself. Alex rolls his eyes and grabs the phone.
"Hello?"

There is creepy breathing sounds on the other end.

"Hellooooo?"
They laugh like a crazy person and the line goes dead. You put the phone back on the hook and take a step away from the box, but it rings again almost immediately. You grab it again.

"What do you- ?!"
"Thank god ya're still 'live! Look, we're fightin' off some Blackies back at HQ so ye're on ye'r own for a couple-a hours 'least. Get Icarus t' take ye' to the Safe House and we'll be there aft'r sunrise."

"Uh, sure I 'spose. You're a Seer right?"

"Oh, ♥♥♥♥, sorry bud. Name's Chadd and I'm with Mary, yeah."

"Okay. Thanks Chadd."

"Don't get ye'self killed now or you'll ruin ev'rything."
He hangs up. You thought you heard fighting in the background, and you definitely hear a window smash down the street.

"Mrrooowww." Icarus is sitting next to you on the ground.

"Okay, Icarus. Show me where the Safe House is."

Icarus bounces to his feet and begins 'jogging' down the footpath. You follow around the corner to the left and find him sitting on the back of a gunmetal-grey Ford Torino Cobra. You whistle as you walk up to it and look inside.

"You want me to drive this? Sorry, I'm no lockpick ... Icarus?"

You look around and find him playing with something on the pavement behind you. He bats it with a paw and it shoots a few feet along the ground and under your shoe with a jingle of metal. Icarus pounces on your shoe and tries to get it back out to no avail.

You kneel down and pull the item from under your shoe - it's a gold-coloured car key. Icarus jumps onto the Torino's roof and meows conspicuously.

The key fits into the car and unlocks it with a slight *click*. You sit down into the driver's seat, surrounded by fake leather and vinyl, and turn the ignition over. The car starts with a low gurgle-ish rumble and idles nicely. Icarus disappears into the back as you close the door, then you shift into first and draw away slowly from the curb.

The freeway is absolutely dead this early in the morning. The sun isn't even up. In the suburbs, every so often you get to an intersection or crossroads and Icarus, sitting up in the passenger seat, puts his left, right or both paws up on the dash to show which way to go. Eventually you pull into a dead end cul-de-sac and drive right to the end. Icarus points right, so you go up the driveway on the right. The garage door starts rolling up as you get close and you park inside. The door slides down. Icarus goes through a cat-flap in the side door so you follow.

Inside looks just like any other home that the owning family has cleaned up and gone on a long holiday. The fridge is stocked, so you grab a bottle of water and an energy bar, then go and find the bedroom at the back. Icarus is already curled up in his bed so you follow suit. There's a clock next to the bed; by the time you fall asleep it says 4:48 AM.

You are jolted away by your cell ringing and Icarus pawing at your face. The clock says 10:03 AM.

You push Icarus off your face and roll over, then fumble the noisy thing before answering it.

"... eyeah wot?"
"It's Chadd, ye' at the safe 'ouse?"
"Yeah I am."
"Good. Simone'll be 'round in a bit to tell ye' what's goin' on."
"... 'kay, cheers."
"I suggest that ye' get ye'self washed an' brushed up good, Simone don't like the scruffy look."
"Alright."
"Seeya later then. Bye."

He hangs up. Icarus is cleaning himself.
