"Nope, big constructs like this aren't her specialty. These we, liberated, from a group of Lawless, along with the sport casters and a big crate of mana stones. They're uh, mmmost likely stolen military property, that we stole from the Lawless.
That incident was the impetus for hiring you three for the expedition team, to get Bezel's very valuable skills out of the way of dangerous situations like that."

"Pro-active archaeology! Some times you have to create the ruins yourself, you see."

>Grin, then be honest.

"Truth is - It's a really dangerous world out there. Even if we don't seek out trouble, it has a habit of finding us. That's why we're focusing so much on training and preparation, so we'll be ready when things go south."

"That was, an exception.
Well. I guess an exception that happened twice, with that time outside the gun store...
Ugh. I didn't realize it but I suppose I have a bad habit. It, isn't our job, and isn't what we should be doing. So, if you catch me trying to argue for playing hero, feel free to stop me."

Evelyn: "Okay..."

After everyone gets a try in the construct armor, your team cleans up, packs up, and heads back to the office.

It's later in the afternoon, almost the end of the work day.

You're back in the conference room with your team, though Bezel away, busy tending to her engineers and making sure nothing exploded.

Valerie: "When is the next expedition planned?"

How do you feel about that?"

Valerie: "Sounds like a good plan to me - best to be as prepared as possible."

"Good to know.

Oh - By the way. Could you keep close to Evelyn on this next outing? I'm not sure she really trusts my style of leadership, so I'd like her to have someone she can rely on by her side."

You spend the majority of the day training with your team, practicing shooting and operating the constructs.

Several things are discovered and discussed -

Evleyn has the lowest base combat ability out of everyone, so it would make sense for her to use one of the military constructs as protection, but the suit is insulated enough that it interferes with her magic sensory and thus anti-magic. The sports casters are powerful in her hands, since she can manipulate the spells immediately after they're fired from the construct, altering their effects to better tackle a situation. She needs more practice to use the bear rifles effectively, but can use the carbines at close to moderate range well enough.

Oliver can brawl well enough and his marksmanship is decent - he would be fine inside a military construct or out.

Valerie has the highest base combat capability, able to draw and fire her revolvers at inhuman speeds to quickly take down close range targets, and her long-range sharpshooting is unrivaled among the group. She's also strong enough to lug around your oversized rifle and quickly bring it into action. Using the military constructs hinders her ability to fire conventional firearms, so probably not the best fit for her if it can be given to someone else.

Your own firearm skills turn out to be decent - not amazing, but not bad. Your witch stone also lets you throw out large bursts of heat and light, making you the party's only offensive mage.

With the day's training over, your team sits around an improvised picnic table to clean all of the guns.
