Though - I'd also like to peruse what you have for trade. Some core parts or creatures could come in handy."

Matilda: "Of course! This warehouse mostly has preserved goods, but I can show you to fresher and live things."

She shows you the warehouses's stock of dried fungus, ranging in perhaps hundreds in variety, as well as plants and herbs. Dried meats, bones, and pelts from large cats, monkeys, snakes, and gators, colorful feathers from birds, and chemicals from bugs, frogs, and snakes. Lots of dried fish, too, not surprising with all the swampland and pools around.

Matilda: "We have tame cats and birds, good for keeping away swamp rats, those are kept elsewhere if you are interested. Monkeys too, easy to train, useful for collecting things out in the swamp."

"Interesting. Any core beast parts, perhaps?

The earth around here seems pretty fertile. Do you farm around the city too, or only on the plateau?"

Matilda: "Core beast parts in another location. Farming on the plateau would take up too much space when we need it for buildings - we have rice fields to the west, away from the Lawless.

This warehouse is mostly for trade goods, and rice is commonly grown, so little need to store it here."

"I see, I see. To be quite honest, it was mostly idle curiosity about your farming practices.

Thank you for now, Matilda - I will go see the hunters."

Matilda: "Of course! Let me show you where they are."

She leads you to another building somewhat nearby. Opening the door and stepping inside, you follow after the women and find yourself in a large room with shelves and baskets full of various HM parts, all organic in appearance. Several piles of intact yellow crystalline spheres sit here and there.

In the corner of the room, behind a table full of chisels and mallets, sits an old man hard at work chipping away at a core.

Matilda: "Cain, we have someone here interested in core parts."

Cain: "Hm?"

He takes a brief moment to look up form his work.

Cain: "Look around if y'want."

He quickly returns to chiseling.

You take a look around the room.

While there are quite a lot of parts, they all look like they come from the same types of creature - yellow fragments of the core shell, and small internal parts.

Nothing that looks like white porcelain., or anything particularly interesting. Just the usual core bits you'd expect from a medium-sized core beast.

Cain: "Drakes. Lot of them around here and in the Lindow."

Cain: "Bliss drakes tend t'hide in the Lindow, and rare anyways.

The ones here, we call them swamp drakes. Smaller than sea drakes, better at crawling on land. Bigger and meaner than gators."

"Hmmm.

Say, have you ever seen a core beast that looked a bit like - Hold on, let me sketch it."

>Take notebook from pocket, quick rendition of the Enchantress.

"Twice as tall as a man, or more. Body looks like it's made of ceramic, and it can affect people's minds like a bliss drake. We found a single one far to the South, and we've been looking for others of its kind."

Cain: "They roll. Like gators, bite and roll. Except they use magic to do that real fast. If they bite you, they'll take a chunk off. Unless you're unlucky and they get your torso, then they rip you t'pieces.

If they're on land and feel threatened, they can spin and flail around. Get hit and they'll smash your bones."
