Just seems... really not worth the risk. Can't spend money if you're dead.
Maybe if you had, like, some good construct armor or something. I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into."

Bezel: "I'm getting into a witch core.

... Anyways, it's not about money or fame. It's about progress. My own progress."

"Hrm. Still, my argument stands.

You could make progress bit by bit without taking risks. Sure, a core might let you take a leap forwards.

Or it could kill you, and then the meter goes right back to zero. Forever."

Bezel: "Except it's impossible to use fourth-tier magic without an apparatus that can perform it. Same with dark magic.

There is no progress that avoids contact with witches, or hunting down the obscure, mythical dark mage."

"Mythical, you say. Wouldn't you say the same of a city of peaceful witches, more interested in music than murder?

I didn't expect you, of all people, to call something 'impossible'. There are always alternatives, loopholes, different approaches. Progress is not necessarily linear. Think of all other fields of magic you could explore.

Would you risk them all simply because you feel impatient regarding space compression?"

"A solid wall then.

...Well. Alright. I guess you've been thinking about this for a while already, probably long before we met Opera even. Won't do any good fussing about it."

Bezel: "Opera isn't willing to reveal the intricacies of space magic anyways. Not that I blame her - us knowing puts her city at risk.

I wouldn't want to mess around with one of their cores, either. They don't deserve that."

Claire: "... Opera?"

Claire: "Waitwaitwaitwaitwait, you TALKED to a WITCH?"

Her eyes light up like a child in a candy store.

Claire: "When was this? Where was this? What did she look like? Old generation or new generation?"

You are taking this better than expected."

"Uh... a couple weeks ago? Also, where... Uh, hard to explain. A pocket of space? I actually think we might have been *inside* her core, but I can't really prove it.

Also, she said she was third or fourth generation from Saint Ardour. Does that mean anything to you?

Regarding looks, she looked like a really tall, dark-haired woman with horns. Really pretty too, had some ample- uhm."

I'm not sure we should be going into detail on the peaceful witches we found to people who are essentially witch hunters.

"Several, actually. Most looked... A lot like her, but smaller. With different horns, too. There was this really cute one with a radio antenn- uhm."
