So, you think the Isla we know is, the schal 'simulating' a consciousness, and the schal instincts are just stuck in the background permanantly?
I guess that makes more sense than the schal growing so much that it overfed on the human Isla and, became her. Unfortunately."

Aldente: "It brings up some interesting philosophical questions, but ultimately, the fact that she's learning and interacting with others on a long term scale no different from ordinary people, I think is proof that she's human enough."

As long as there's no chance of uh, reversion. I assume you need further study to really, determine that."

Aldente: "Given that she maintained her human aspect while under stress of revealing her secret to Percia and your team, I think she's the most stable of the bunch.

From a sample size of three, mind you, but still."

A bit funny hearing you call her Percia."

Aldente: "Ah. She's not actually a copy of me - just my knowledge of schals and some ancillary bits, with a customized personality. Being a rogue unit, I wouldn't want her to be captured under some circumstances and disclose any of my secrets."

Aldente: "She's completely aware of what she is.

Do you remember when I told you that rogues are too easy to hijack to be reliable?"

Aldente: "More of, they lack the spirit 'hardware'. Perhaps whoever designed the process didn't want there to be any moral qualms concerning disposable puppets, and made it so they had the bare minimum facilities.

Since Percia would be taking on jobs far away from me, and interacting with various mages, she would need to be as resilient, or more, than the average human. I had several SBCs left over from my experimentation days, and used one to create Percia.

She still has her memories of being a tank gunner for the Meglunda army. If I hadn't captured her, or I suppose him at the time, he would've died in one of the failed attacks that his crew was sent to. A convenient excuse for 'saving' him.

A new body, a little personality-rewriting to better fit the job, a small chunk of my knowledge, and Percia Durum was born."

Better than death, I suppose. Though still somewhat...

Well, whatever. It's done, and it IS better than the alternative."

Aldente: "She enjoys her new job, with the original part of her personality, too.

She was distant from her parents, no siblings, few friends, no wife or girlfriend or kids. No one she really misses.

She's happy with her new life."

"I'm surprised you seem to care so much about Her... His, wellbeing.
I don't mean to offend, but so far you've been quite, nonchalant, about the fate of individual humans. The, thousands of soldiers under the courthouse are a testimony to that, and you've compared us to livestock before. Even Claire - She was only of interest to you while her trauma was still a puzzle to be solved.

Why are you so intent on reassuring me that this particular SBC you owned was given a satisfactory life? I imagine you have a veritable army of them in storage, at this point."

"Hrm. Alright. I'll take it.
They did enjoy getting eaten by a witch a little too much, but I guess everything's fun when you've got a new lease on life."
