We were also told not to bother them while at work. Oh, and not to accept any pebbles from them."

Mio: "Giselle said she talks to them a lot, seemed like they were, bird people."

"Hm. I think she used telepathy for that, cause they're just birds.
Cute little things about knee high, all black and white, waddle around upright like a perched owl.
Not feathery like normal birds though, they looked almost slick. They're swimmers though I think, so maybe they're waterproof feathers."

Mio: "Disappointing."

She leans more into your back, making herself comfortable, and seems content with resting in silence for the moment.

The hour passes uneventfully, and Evelyn undoes the Haas magic while you untie Mio.

Mio: "That wasn't as bad as I was expecting."

"Wasn't bad for Claire either.
Evelyn did you have any uh, wilder cases when you were testing?"

Evelyn: "Yes.

I think knowing what it does to you beforehand compared to, not being told anything, greatly affects how well you can control yourself."

"Yeah, that's probably it. Good to know for future use.

Now you'll be out of action for about a week, then the proud owner of a shiny new magic looking glass."

Mio: "So it's a vision enhancement magic?"

"That's a bit of an oversimplification, but yes.

The details still need a bit of research, but it essentially allows you to send out a very long-ranged... tendril? Or at least a tendril analogue, that pipes in visual data from a location. We're not exactly sure HOW it perceives things - it works in complete darkness, so it can't just be detecting light.
Either way, it converts that into a stream of data that can be processed into a picture. I have a specialized telepathic structure that lets me see it in real time, but otherwise you have to use a TI-comp and a camera to take snapshots.

It seems mostly undetectable by normal techniques, but some witches seemed able to see it. We're thinking it uses space compression in some way, which is also why it can't see in or out of cores."

"Well... more of a vision probe, when used correctly at least.
Without the supporting telepathic interface, it's pretty much just a tendril that sends you an endless stream of unintelligble data.
Longer term goal is to get other data sending across it."

Mio: "So this will be the communication part of the long-range communication and energy transfer project.

It's all going to be driven by spirits."
