You make a tiny speck of light above your palm, not even bright enough to illuminate anything.

Guess you still can't do a whole lot without the coin.

Pulling the golden disk from your pocket, you try again, this time illuminating the room with a bright white light that's also perfectly safe.

Your clock says 6:32. 28 minutes before the alarm you set.

You get up and switch off your alarm clock so it won't bother you later. Flipping on the lights, you get dressed and head into the bathroom to wash your face and brush your teeth.

By the time you're done, the smell of breakfast food fills the air. Claire and Bezel are sitting at the dinner table, eating a simple meal of buttered toast and eggs. A plate is set out for you as well.

Claire: "Morning Ralph! Sleep well?"

Bezel: "Call UC and give them an update on the situation. After that, meet Claire back at the warehouse and then talk to someone in command - either Claire trains soldiers up on how to identify witches and have them keep track of the time it takes for witches to start emitting corruption, or we end up traveling with the soldiers as they kill witches.

I'll have to build long-range corruption sensors, too."

Bezel: "Mm."

Claire: "I need to go now. There's only one key, but I'll have some spares made today."

Bezel: "Can I see it real quick?"

Claire hands her house key to Bezel, who quickly makes two HM copies before handing the original back.

Claire: "Oh. Right. Anyways, I'll see you two later!"

The researcher leaves the condo.

Bezel: "You ready to leave?"

The two of you leave Claire's condo, lock the door, and head off. It takes a bit of asking around until you find the communications office, which mostly deals with telegrams but also manages the city radio news broadcast as well as phone lines. A centralized communication facility managed by the government, and publicly accessible.

You and Bezel pay for usage for one of the phone booths and head in. Bezel dials UC's number, and then gives them a summary of the situation - airships are a bit impractical at the moment, you've met a core beast analyst, and obtainment of a witch core is somewhat feasible, but will require an extended stay in Meglunda.

She leaves out the part of how exactly she's going to obtain one.

Bezel: "Anything you want to add, Ralph?"

To the warehouse!

The warehouse guards let you in and you knock like last time. Claire opens the door to greet you before everyone heads in.

Claire: "How'd it go?"

Bezel: "Good. We got permission from UC to stay, and I can do my work from here."

Claire: "Great! I scheduled an appointment with the general at noon, so we'll be meeting him then to discuss the bird-watching plan. Until then, uh, diagrams."

Bezel: "Alright. I'll work on the corruption detectors."

Hm. It seems like you don't exactly have anything to do. Or do you?

With the coin in your palm, you focus your energies and create... DIM FLICKERING LIGHT!

Wait, dim? And flickering? What gives?
