I wonder if they're edible. Or, if they generate enough mana to justify trying to grow them."

Claire: "They die when taken out of the ocean, even if kept in salt water tanks and given sunlight. They stop producing mana once dead, too, and I never found any regenerating mana stones inside one.

I haven't tried eating one - they're made of organic HM, like witch bodies."

"...Hm. If, they're not making mana, and taking them off the ocean kills them. Hmmm.

Is it possible they could be, feeding off ambient mana in the water? I'm not sure how that'd work, but - Maybe there's a source of energy out there we could harvest. Mana-producing bacteria?

I wonder if we could ask them via telepathy."

Ingret, do you know how long you can stay under, or how deep you can go?"

Claire: "They don't seem to be intelligent, from what I could observe.

Ambient mana in the water... Hm."

Ingret: "I don't need to breath air, and I can go very deep."

You think you got all of the info you need from Claire and Ingret - now to do other things, maybe?

[Go check on the expedition team]
[Go check on Bezel]

Leaving the warehouse, you head back to the offices.

Bezel doesn't seem to be in her office. Hm.

Exiting the office and walking over to the cleanroom building, you search the array of cleanrooms until you find Bezel sitting at a table. She's in a cleanroom suit, but seems to just be flipping through a magazine.

In the cleanroom nearby, you can see a pair of men working machinery.

Bezel: "Hey."

"Hey there. Mind if I join you?"

"Liam's okay with the island expedition, and Ingret is confident in her swimming skills. Seems like it'll work out more easily than I expected. Can't say I'm completely excited about leaving again, though. It was surprisingly, lonely, up North, despite the larger team size.

How was your week?"

Bezel: "Mm."

You sit down beside her - looks like the magazine she's flipping through is a catalogue of various optical instruments.

Bezel: "Pretty much just training the new guys. I finished up the corruption beam emitter, and showed the guys how to operate it. They make HM panels, and use the machine to cut microscopic shapes into it.

Started with three, quickly let one go 'cause his HM's structure was too large. Not enough resolution.

There hasn't been anything notable going on - the Haste user who robbed you hasn't had any other sightings, and Aldente hasn't done anything beyond her restaurant business, as far as I can tell."

"Guess she's gone underground. I bet we spooked her. Ah well.

Too bad about that one trainee. You planning on getting a new one, or just work with the two for now?"

Bezel: "Searching for a third, but the requirements make it difficult. We need high resolution, unstable HM for the power source for the corruption emitter. The guys here can just do high resolution, good enough for the actual end product."

"Do they have to be able to do both? Can't have some making the high resolution shroud, and others make the unstable HM?
Or, does it rely directly on the power source being precisely shaped."

"Mmm. Just finding a constructor isn't that easy nowadays - I don't envy you, having to search for someone with such a specific set of skills.

Things would be a lot simpler if we had a few dozen Bezels, heh."
