Has anyone here skinned an animal before?"

Frederic: "I have. My work as a knight included monster subjugation trips deep into the wilderness more than once. We brought our own food, but also used what we hunted. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I can get the pelt off. Though, it's uh. More than a little tricky with one arm. I'll teach you how to, you won't need much strength to carve low level monsters or beasts like this. There's a trick to getting the fangs out too I think, but I'm not very familiar with it. Something about hitting the jaw just right to pop them out."

Frederic nods.

Frederic: "Get your learning cap on. I doubt Karina will be doing much skinning."
He gives a small smirk as he looks over at Karina, who sticks out her tongue from the side of her mouth in a look of childlike displeasure.

The beast island comes into view, and Frederic maneuvers the ship to circle it while you get a good look at the place. Seems like a medium sized island, roughly circular and about 2/3 the size of Madosa, which is a fairly large city for a sky island. The island itself seems to be somewhat bowl shaped, with a rim that drops sharply and a large hill in the center reaching up to the same height as the rim. Dense trees ring the outer portion of the island next to the rim, while the center portion is more open grasslands leading up to a rockier portion on the hill. From here, you can see a dark cave entrance on the hill in the center.
Frederic takes the ship down on one larger area on the rim near a ramp down to the interior of the island. There's a few mooring posts here, which you help lash the ship to. A couple other ships are tied around the edge of the island, including one at your place. You're a bit surprised that so few people are here right now, actually. This island is usually a hot spot for newer adventurers, especially right after graduation when there's a huge influx of them. Maybe it has to do with that Denmother quest you saw?

Regardless, now is time for hunting. Looking down onto the island, from here you can see a couple groups of wolves not too far from the edge woods, you could engage any of the groups alone. One group of four, no wait, five younger wolves playing off to one side, a group of three adults prowling around, and the last group has one adult and one uh, larger than adult wolf laying together peacefully. Probably just an Alpha wolf, the size difference isn't big enough to be a Dire wolf.

Frederic: "So, which group?"

"Group of three adults. The five young ones might be inexperienced and easier to handle, but it's best to let them grow to adults before hunting them."

Frederic nods, and you almost miss Karina giving a small sigh of relief. The three of you make your way down the ramp into the forest, and begin heading through carefully, watching for any wolves in the woods. They seem to avoid the ramp for some reason, probably something set up by Madosa like those pillars at the slime island. You notice a few rabbits darting around in the woods off in the distance, but they don't seem to be bothered by your presence.

As you approach the group of wolves at the woods edge, they perk up and all look towards you. All three of their hackles raise up, and they give a low growl.

The three wolves leap into action before any of your group can make the first move!
Wolf 1 attacks Gram with Holding Bite!
Wolf 2 attacks Gram with Holding Bite!
Wolf 3 attacks Gram with Slam!
The first two wolves immediately jump forward, each one biting down on Gram's arms. Thankfully, their teeth don't penetrate his thick shirt and leather armor, but the thrashing dogs make it almost impossible to fight back. Then, the third wolf body slams Gram, again not inflicting damage through his armor.

Gram uses Aimed Shot on Wolf 3!
Despite this, Gram still manages to level his gun at the third wolf and fire a shot into it. It yelps in pain as the shot hits in in the side, but shows no signs of giving up.
Wolf 3 takes 9 damage!

Karina stands frozen, Frederic hesitating to swing his massive swords with the wolves still all over Gram.

Battle!

Frederic: "Probably not a good idea with only one arm. Here."
Frederic steps forward casually, then reels back his right leg and delivers a solid kick into the stomach of the wolf on your right arm.
Frederic attacks Wolf 2 unarmed! Wolf 2 takes 15 damage!
It yelps in pain as it sails back through the air, then tumbles along the ground. Wow, he really laid into it.

The wolf, now hobbling a bit, gets back to its feet and growls at Frederic, but instead of attacking again, rears back its head and lets out a burst of short, sharp barking howls.

A moment passes uneasily, the first wolf still on your arm, and the third pacing by the second wolf. You wonder for a moment if that was all. Then, you hear a growl from the side. And then another. And then five more from the other side.
Seems like the other two groups of wolves you saw heard the call. All of the wolves seem to bristle and increase in ferocity as the reinforcements arrive.
Karina: "U-uh..."

Frederick, hit the alpha with everything you got! I'll hold back the pups!"

> Frederick: Heavy Slash Alpha Wolf!

Frederic: "On it."

Before anyone can take action, the Alpha Wolf barks fiercely and snarls at the pups, who immediately tuck their tails and run back towards the hill in the center of the island. Looks like they don't want the young ones involved.

After that, the Alpha turns back to the group, and settles its sight on Frederic.

Alpha Wolf attacks Frederic! Attack hits, dealing no damage!
It charges to bite at the knight, but Frederic easily blocks the attack with his sword and the wolf retreats warily.
It then turns its sight to you, and growls. The three regular wolves not already grabbing onto you charge as one, fangs bared.

Wolf 3 attacks Gram with Holding Bite! Attack hits, dealing no damage!
Wolf 4 attacks Gram with Holding Bite! Attack hits, dealing no damage!
Wolf 1 attacks Gram! Attack hits, dealing no damage!
Wolf 2 attacks Gram! Attack hits, dealing no damage!
Three of them are now clinging onto your various limbs, and though thankfully they've gripped onto your leather protectors, you're almost entirely unable to maneuver like this. The last wolf bites at your armor, then backs off after being unsuccessful.
Well, good news is you definitely have all their attention, and now Frederic can focus on the alpha. You hope they don't wisen up to the non-armored bits of you any time soon.

Seeing you take the pack's attention, Frederic charges at the Alpha, brandishing his sword.
Frederic uses Heavy Slash on Alpha Wolf! Attack hits, dealing 41 damage!
The knight readies his sword behind his back as he runs, and the second he is close enough, he whips his arm directly overhead, bringing the blade down onto the alpha directly. It sees the attack coming, but the sudden appearance of the gigantic blade from behind the man takes it by surprise, and it does not manage to dodge out of the way in time. The blade cuts deep through the wolf's side and leg, nearly severing the front right limb. It yelps in pain and falls backwards, before returning to its feet unsteadily.

Karina readies her staff, still somewhat hesitant, and casts on Gram.
Karina uses Glitter Armor on Gram!

Frederic: "I can take this dog easily. How are you holding in there, Gram?"

"Holding on fine! The wolves are holding better!"

Gram: Yell and swing, hopefully convincing the wolves that I'm trying to get them off and that they should remain biting

Frederick: Attack the Alpha Wolf with a standard attack

Karina: Basic Heal Gram or Frederick if they're injured this turn, prioritizing Gram

Frederic pauses for a moment, but returns his attention to the Alpha Wolf in time to block another bite, this one weakened by the wolf's wound.
Alpha Wolf attacks Frederic! Attack hits, dealing no damage!
The wolf growls weakly before Frederic slashes it again, this time the blade cutting deep into the wolf. It crumples to the ground without another noise.
Frederic attacks Alpha Wolf! Alpha Wolf is slain!
The other wolves covering Gram stop growling and look over at the Alpha's corpse, then in a panic, all release Gram and run with their tails tucked between their legs.

Victory!

Frederic: "...huh. They know they're outmatched. Good.
Are you alright, Gram? Those things were chewing on you pretty hard."
