Eigla and Rosa put their hands in the fire, gritting their teeth as the skin begins to darken and peel off. It feels horrible, but they manage to endure through the pain until the tips of their finger bones start to show. Should be good enough!

Eigla's regeneration kicks in almost immediately, allowing her to retain some functionality in her hands. They'd probably fall apart if she tried to punch someone, but at least she can move most of her digits. Rosa's look a lot worse for wear, though.

Rosa: "Hm.
We match now, Eigla."

Eigla smiles at this. Rosa can make jokes, even when hurt and in pain. She's so nice. So perfect and dreamy. So... Delicious.

Eigla loses 1 Madness!

Rosa: "If you'd like I could pilebunk off any infected limbs, and we burn those. Though, then we would have to watch you for a while and see if we missed any. And you might have to get fire anyway."

Klimt: "...take off that poncho. Slow and careful now."

Peggy looks like she might cry.

Peggy: "It's... It's all I have left...

Okay. Okay. If it's you, I'll do it. NO ONE ELSE LOOK!"

Slowly, embarrassedly, she removes her poncho, throwing it in the fire as well, then walks up to Klimt, showing all of her many limbs.

Peggy: "S-so... How does it look?"

Klimt looks Peggy over carefully. There's... Only one hand with slime in it, surprisingly.

Her poncho took good care of her.

Eigla: "What exactly does the mold do? Other than, kill things, I assume."

Mary: "It doesn't, uh, kill things. It makes them - Well, we call them undead, but death isn't really a requirement. It's... Complicated, but - The mold we have inside us, it was made to affect humans specifically. The thing in that wart, though - It's wild, unmodified. It'd try to turn my sheep into Flesh. The adults' immune systems could probably deal with it, but the lambs, I'd lose an entire generation! I-I can't have that! They're my daughters!"

Peggy slowly nods, eyes closed. She lets Klimt guide her to the bonfire, then place her hand over the flames. She screams and cries as her flesh is consumed, but doesn't try to escape or struggle against his grip.

When you're done, her fingers have nearly fused together from the heat. She hiccups and cries, eyes still closed.

Rosa: "What would it do to us?"

Mary: "We're already undead. It'd join your colony and slowly absorb its programming. After a few months, it'd be indistinguishable from the rest of it.

...Unless it somehow took over. That's, rather rare, but it's how some kinds of Heretics came to be. The wild-type mold doesn't have some of our... Limitations."

Eigla heats her knife over the fire until it turns into a glowing 1000 degree knife. Heat treatment seems to be holding, surprisingly. Now, to cut something?

Mary: "It all depends on how much it integrated with your colony. Most common effect is being able to digest Flesh, and maybe not responding to mind-affecting patterns. You'd probably not be able to receive memories from eating Flesh, either. Oh, and you'd be very contagious to most living creatures.
Worst case scenario, the wild mold would take over completely and erase your mind. No chance of recovering it, either, since you couldn't just use a pattern interface to back it up."

Eigla blows on her knife, but the red hot blade cuts her breath in two!

Eigla: "You should burn the pelt, too."

Mary is already on it, however, using a long stick to drag some embers from the fire into the bundle. It ignites quickly, burning with low, foul-smelling flames.

Mary: "If anything survives the fire, we'll cook it over the flame later.

...I'm sorry. I know you worked hard to hunt this, but it had to be done."
