 Dropship Beacon?

Post Dropship Beacon?
I've had this idea, it'll be a grenade that when it breaks it'll shoot a streight line up into the air to help align dropships to where you need them. It'll mostly be useful for very tall maps and also when you want to aerially bombard stuff from high-up but down low isn't safe enough for a dropship.

Anyone has any ideas on how to do this? Do I need to explain it better? I can make pictures.

Very nice idea. I have a couple of tall maps that really need something like this...

You could try taking a look at Tosty's pack here:

It has some grenades that spawn vertical walls on detonation... could use the same technique to spawna really freaking long line with no solidity. If I think of it I'll poke around with this.

Thanks, but I don't have "Xenocromium" material. What could I use instead of it?

*Edit* NVM, 'Air' material works fine.

This is actually a really neat idea.

It will be really neat until Data decides to implement resolution scaling. I have a 1440x900 monitor. I'd like to be able to use all of it.

Nah....The best thing would be flare. Like smoke that goes up and up, So can bomb/drop troops were you need them without meesing up the map. And it would look SO COOL.

I was thinking about that.. but I don't know how I would do it. I would like it so it'll shoot colored smoke into the air and the longer they exist the larger they would become until they die.... but I don't thing that'll be possible.

Once I do more work on Grif's "Line" I'll release my Dropship Beacon.

I have seen sprites that you could not touch, But could see. Why not have a large, red untouchable line? Like a target disegnator.

Thats exactly what it is, except it's cyan. But I think theres a lifetime cap.... I can't get it to stay any longer then like a minute. :-( Even WITH the lifetime variable at 1500000

I was thinking about this the other day, but not as a grenade.
Plop down some bunkermodule beacons which are just a tiny base and a tall, glowing background.
Or else make it spawn an actor which bleeds no mass particles straight up into the sky at high-speed.
