You'll get frameskip then, unless your computer is one of the funny ones that have popped up that goes extremely slow in timescaling mode but fine in realtime mode.
Cortex does not use your GPU for anything. Ever. Only CPU, which is why people are clamoring for some graphics card acceleration.
