We couldn't get that guy to leave last night. He kept impersonating other people and spamming because I was ignoring him.

I changed my nick to that for like 10 seconds.
Also Shadow was really hating on me and I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of me leaving.

Also, I thought THOR was banned, so he shouldnt be able to post this.

Also, you don't need to ban me from IRC, I'm not coming back there anyways. It's a shitpile full of hornets and I sat on it.
Poor me.

THOR posted this before ban. It's physically impossible to post from the banned account.

We didn't start hating on you until we very kindly asked you to stop spamming and abusing the /nick privilege. When you continued then we started being rude.

Yeah, "very kindly".
"<Shadow> get out you ignorant ♥♥♥♥"
and I was spamming because no one was chatting.
If you are not talking or even paying attention to the screen, then why do you even CARE about whats there, huh?

Also, it was my first time on IRC.
How do I know what is defined as abuse of the /nick privilege?

And yes, I noticed the misspell and corrected it to pl3box, and then ppl told me that that was illegal, so I changed it back.

And then when I changed my nick to something else, another Dudemauler came in, god knows where he came from.

Shadow, you shouldn't have flamed him at all. You should have called for a moderator.
Dudemauler, you shouldn't have spammed for any reason, nor should you have impersonated a moderator.
This thread is not going anywhere. Arguing in public isn't helping anybody's cases.

Calling for a moderator would have done nothing as no one has op on IRC as far as I know

I thought I saw weasel with op in there once, but the irc remains unmoderated pretty much 24/7.

Even when services were set up, the moderators I assigned didn't do anything. Occasionally they'd give a warning, but only when I was also in the room.

Until I can get a trusted moderator, that is in IRC *very* frequently, and follows *my* rules (eg: warns/kicks/bans for "little" things like language) there's really no point in having services.

Weasel, Skiv has a point. Services isn't just ops, it prevents impersonation by having nickserv, and we can register channels other than DRLchat. Besides, even if you don't feel any of the current forum mods are up to moderating IRC, at least services is already done and taken care of whenever you feel you have someone who can.

When I'm off doing something else and I'm using an IRC channel that isn't very active, I like to keep an eye on the notification thingy, if it blinks I check it out, someone might have a question or something cool to show. But if someone is spamming the channel then it's just blinking all the time, so I either ignore it (what's the point of being in the channel now?) or I keep alt-tabbing to see another five lines of spam.

Also, in a slow IRC conversation, people go off and do something else and check in every 10-15 minutes, scroll up and read what's been said. As it's a slow conversation, there can be 5 or 6 lines of interest, but it actually IS a conversation, albeit one that takes up to 20 minutes to get a reply. By spamming this channel, you disrupt this conversation, since people will have to scroll through spam to get at what they want.

If you actually have something to say, go ahead, I'm not a STFU freak, but spamming just because no-one is speaking is a bit like going "Bla bla bla" out loud because no-one is talking.
