Balloon Crabs

Image

These floating crabs aren't aggressive and won't cause any harm,
unless of cause you shoot its balloon. If you are unlucky and someone
shoots one of these above your head it will bleed acid on you which isn't exactly fun.
And if they burst above you...

------------------------------------
You can either control them yourself (and leave them floating above enemies only)
by buying them for 20oz or placing the "crab spawner".
You can place as many as you want (I suggest 3 as a max, but I usually only place one),
and you will see wild balloon crabs appearing from the sky

Not only are they awesome to watch, they also add a new gameplay mechanic
by shooting crabs just above enemies heads (if you use the "crab spawner)

Just a bonus, I have also made some new physics to the legs which makes them go "limb" instead of normal rigid joints.

Credits:
Azukki, i borrowed his crab leg sprites he made for this contest

mail2345, i used his attachment handler code.

Hope you like this pile of junk and remember to rate

This will properly be the last thing i am going to release on datarealms

Lol this is pretty cool. Doesn't this remind you guys of Metroid?

Good concept and I like how they add new mechanics to gameplay.

10/10

Why couldn't you have made them fight like metroids!? I mean... they're IDENTICAL!

6/10 for ingenuity anyway. Will go much higher if they attack.

7/10 Cool crabs, I like their personality (meaning floating habits and limp legs) as well as the deadly acidness that spills out of em when shot at. Sprite's great too,

Their large size, dark outlining, and durability are problems for me. I always figured they were supposed to be small and a tad brittle, since they're balloons.

Please explain, because without proper explanation it just seems like you give me a low score to raise your chances of winning

They are just wildlife, they are peaceful animals, and i have never played any metroid game.

If you look at the concept art you can see it is in the right size (compare it to the basic cocoon crab), also i suck at spriting. I have made them this strong because i personally think everything is too weak in cortex command, and that they would be very boring if they only needed 3 wounds to die.

Sprites could use some more work to fit inside vanillas.

6/10 nothing that really struck me as special, but they are fun.

Also naxx, that sprite isn't exactly more fitting to be honest.
It looks like a rock, no offense taken I hope.

I pretended to exagerate the veins and such, I'm terribly spriting organics,
but a correct contracting-&-expanding sprite animation could save the day.

True.

Though the main problem I see with your sprite is that you shaded it like a rock :P

10/10 I find these totally perfect to the wildlife style and is so Bloody awesome,
that i could play with these crabs, all day long  .

The part with the dangling feet's just hanging from its body like that, makes it fun looking at all the time. lol. Crabs FTW! Its also awesome the danger such a innocent little crap can do hehehehe ^^
