Post Fort McMurray: The Game? "we oiligarchy now"
http://fortmcmoney.com/en

It's a game documentary about Fort McMurray, one of the fastest developing cities in the world, based on a massive oil-based industrial complex.

The trailer showcases that there is going to be a game based on Fort McMurray, with Four Game Session.
[One of them Starts soon, Nov. ~21st? 25th?, 2013...]

I can't get the feeling that someone took my suggestion that we should use gamer-based cognitive engines for more important things...
Please tell me this isn't like a game of Democracy 3, in which we control Fort McMurray...

A game documentary that engages players with the petroleum industry, Fort McMoney is the virtual representation of a real place, the town of Fort McMurray, located in Canada's oil sands.

Decide on the future of the world's largest energy project by conducting an investigation and discovering the project's main economic, environmental and social issues.

Over two years of investigations, 60 days of shoots and nearly 50 interviews.

Each part is a four-week cycle in real time. The first part will begin on November 25, 2013, the second on January 20, 2014 and the third on February 24, 2014.

Created and directed by David Dufresne, this documentary game is produced by Toxa and the National Film Board of Canada, in association with ARTE. Presented in partnership with Radio-Canada, Le Monde, The Globe and Mail and SüdDeutsche.de.

It's your turn to play!

TL;DR: Are they letting gamers control a Major City? Or what?

That question may be a tad naïve.

Shh, don't tell the Americans that we have pipelines and technology. They might still think we live in igloos!

Anyway, I don't feel like I should go and give some company free labor.

Too bad, you already categorized images of lake beds, and solved cancer, you've already sold untold amounts of money of proccessing-time to computer network clusters... or otherwise free labour [like censuses, community service, voting, etc etc].

Anyways, you are doing free civil/political/industrial/economic labour, since you are dealing with multiple interests [oil/civil/aboriginal/environmental].

It'd be interesting if gamers could actually run a city better than a multiparty, representative democracy could.

EVE manages to have quite a few governments operating fairly well. This is a very interesting idea, I'm curious to see the end result.
