 Re: Why the hostility?
In a thread advocating peace, you guys reported eachother.
Also, this just in, The PHBB wizards are at it again. They've created a marvelous new feature for the boards.
We call it the "Edit Button". Yes, it lets you go back to old posts and add unto them, so you can look like that 99% superior race that you know you are.
Also, Anonymous Moderating. We're taking it into consideration.

 Re: Why the hostility?
Hey zalo, you're dumb.
Reporting is peace. Calling 9-1-1 isn't disturbing the peace. it is advocating it. The alternative to reporting would be he and I getting into a trollfest in the middle of a perfectly good topic.
Actually, come to think of it, you are being more of a troll than he is by moderating the board in this fashion.

O sorry, new to the forum and you seem very up tight, with my other thread as well nice to know that the community is so nice and welcoming, especially to newcomers. Upon that point as a newcomer to the forum I was taught that reporting some one for double posting was typical behaviour. I am completely aware of the Edit button now and infact I been ever since, I thank you for that THOR. Yet I feel a little mistreated when i'm reported then followed up by abuse while you can happily say I don't care that I double posted! Putting that aside, really aside, i'm not liking the PM's i'm getting. Looking through the whole of this thread it is agreeable that it does help people become better people (forum wise) when abused. Although sometimes it is unnessisary and pushed a little to far in some cases. I'm not going to flame or badly mistreat a newcomer, words of advice may be provided however. I don't really approve of hostility but it undoubtabley does improve some members, I can't argue with that.

 Re: Why the hostility?
Nobody is going to change their minds in this topic unless proved wrong. As soon as the people who think this hostility is a bad idea try and "fix" a community by removing it, they will soon see that (like I did). Until then this arguing (and arguing is different to flaming) doesn't really serve any purpose, although it is somewhat amusing (who honestly doesn't like arguing?).

From what I gather you have some proficiency in programming, possibly via prior experience or possibly just because you're good at it. Your point is quite valid, however for some people this is their first venture into programming and thus lack basic knowledge of this, meaning it is also valid for more experienced members to direct them. That's a very good point, you're right about that. In defense of the noobs, there's sometimes little things that get past us that we'll get flamed for. For example, I hear a lot of people talking about search, but I never knew it was an actual implemented function until I read about it being at the top of the page in someone's signature. I also asked about some sprite issues because while I had even looked for it, I never noticed the sprite issues thread that explained the common problems of sprites. Both are definitely my fault and I can't really blame the forum for bonking me on the head about it, but at the same time it's kind of an expected mistake. I've been on a lot of forums with no search function or one that doesn't work, so when someone says "SEARCH" I've just been wading through pages of posts, lol. I guess that if a noob can't show some form of intelligence of CC programming when asking about their issue, the least they can do is clearly word their problem and show a willingness to learn. I have seen some noobs post like "I need help! So... wanna help? Well, my Cortex Command isn't working. What's wrong?"

 Re: Why the hostility?
This thread is getting to the 'dangerously cheesy' mark, be careful people, I am sure a moderator such as myself will swoop in and lock this in one swell foop.

 Re: Why the hostility?
Yo WJ, any way to make give the Search button a bigger link like the Dev Log and Wiki links?

^ is right.
Still some newbies will ignore it.
Just like a flashing message on first post.

Just like a flashing message on first post. Just instantly ban them for a day if their first post happens to be something that can easily be found using the search function.
