Re: 1 Bar Design - Updates and Discussion - NEW SITE + PW
Had to work on other things today frustratingly so the "by the end of the week" estimate is unlikely to pass if I'm to have any of the fun persistence but no matter, I have a framework for loading objects now which means I can start making enemies and have fun with that. A mockup of the game-plan which is hopefully evocative of "ooooh I want to play that". More info here

I really don't like the stark colour pallette - it's too bright on my eyes. Apart from that though it looks great.

It's Arne's 16 colour palette from here. I'm quite happy with it so it's unlikely to change, have you tried tweaking your monitor a little?

Will we be able to play Pocket Wars on PC, for those of us without portables?

I dunno if this is ok to ask, but are you making much money off that?

Lol, sickzone has terrible conception on art. Stickwars is obviously much less artistic skill.

As stated above, I might make a flash version for PC as freeware but if I do I'll likely not extend the list of enemies beyond what it is now to give you something to pay for. I might allow purchasing them with a paypal microtransaction or something, we'll see. Contrary wrote: I dunno if this is ok to ask, but are you making much money off that? I'd rather not say until a while from now so that I get some idea of how it's going to pan out.

Re: 1 Bar Design - Updates and Discussion - NEW SITE + PW
Update on the pocket wars situation: I've had to pull the app from the store due to a massive, game breaking bug that is manifest only on the device - not in the simulator or in regular flash player. This means that the game won't be available until RIM approves the fixed build, at which point it'll go on sale again.

Ouch. :/ What exactly does approval involve? Not testing it, I guess. Here's hoping they'll re-approve it quickly.

Re: 1 Bar Design - Updates and Discussion - NEW SITE + PW
Approval involves them downloading the file, checking that it runs and is signed, and then checking a box. They don't do functional testing, that's not their job.
It's the fact that it works on the simulator (and on the device if you're using a bluetooth mouse) but not on the device with touch that bothers me. :/

Oh, just looked at the app store page. I assumed it didn't run. But yeah, that's pretty bizarre regardless.
How difficult was it to fix?

Re: 1 Bar Design - Updates and Discussion - NEW SITE + PW
Easy as it involved simply writing my own "just released" replacement code rather than using the flixel callback therein, but it's still frustrating in that now I have to wait for days to get it back on the store due to something so trivial completely breaking the game.

Gee, how bothersome. I guess it was to be expected though, portable devices are usually very temperamental when it comes to homebrew software.
Well, best of luck, and I hope this doesn't delay your plans for any longer than necessary.
