Wheeeee, progress has been made!

Lighting ♥♥♥♥ it up bigtime, but suspension is now in place(quite fond of the design.).
I also made a front end and added brakes all round.(Most useless usage of polygons ever. Over 500 poly's each, not visible from any other angle than this, and that is with the suspension not yet fitted to the right side.

THE QUESTION REMAINS, the exhausts, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THEM?!?!

Messed around in photoshop over some hours, doing some more smudge abuse.

Face is a bit off, something with the eyes I think.
I might've failed a bit with the blue/orange contrast too :P

Smudge abuse indeed. Try upping the hardness of the brushes, everything is very soft and blurred right now. It's difficult to tell what's wrong proportionally due to the softness but I think the nose and mouth could be brought up some. Overall not bad construction, that smudging isn't helping though.

Thanks for the advice Madmax!
I used hard brushes.. To paint down sploshes of colour and smear those around with the smudge and liquify tools.
It's hard making fluid lines with a mouse. You use a mouse right? How do you get such nice lines for your non pixel-art stuff? I find it almost impossible to draw a good line or shape with the mouse without re-doing it at least 100 times.
Also, do you use any custom brushes?

Elly looks like she belongs in Kingdom Hearts or something. Isn't she supposed to be old?

Its good that you're laying down color bases or "sploshes" but instead of using the smudge tool to blend the colors together you might want to try turning down the opacity of your brush and blending them with that, that way you don't end up softening your lines and making a mess of the colors.
About doing smooth lines with a mouse, I often have to go back over my lines as well, not much avoiding it with a mouse, what I do is I start off with a loose low opacity sketch, then I go over it with darker smoother lines, sometimes I use the line tool. Custom brushes? Nah. I use a few of the brushes that come with GIMP, that's about it though.

In college, I had a tablet set up, and someone asked me to make a spider-creeper, so, I obliged. The tablets there are awesome, they're Wacom, If I had photoshop at home I'd attempt to finish it with my supercheap tablet.
